Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Process & Portfolio Management will be responsible for managing the PMO within Constellation Brands Wine & Spirits division, ensuring the team is effectively guiding innovation initiatives (i.e. new product development, line extensions, and package changes) through the Stage Gate process.

The successful candidate will be analytical and process oriented, and also effective at navigating change by influencing others within an organization. This role requires a high level of business acumen to understand project risks/implications, and strong leadership skills to advocate for solutions. The candidate will need to collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional business partners, and be effective in building business relationships throughout all levels of the organization.


  • Manage team and cross functional relationships to ensure Stage Gate process, decisions, tools, and templates are optimized to enable successful project implementation.

  • Lead Innovation Board Meetings with Wine & Spirits Leadership team, including collection/review of presentation materials, conducting comprehensive project reviews, managing Board meeting, and providing follow-up documentation.

  • Act as the Project Manager on a defined project portfolio, including:

  • Developing/managing project timelines, milestones, cross-functional tasks, risk profiles, and follow-up notes.

  • Communicating project status and milestones to key stakeholders and ensuring teams are accountable to complete tasks at hand.

  • Identifying commercialization hurdles and driving resolutions.

  • Providing team project management coverage as needed.

  • Work with Project Management team to manage risks, and elevate as needed. Act as the "activist" in overcoming obstacles and solving issues to ensure team is able to successfully move projects through gates.

  • Assess and determine if/where Stage Gate "roadblocks" may exist, and provide on-going action plans to Director.

  • Monitor Wine & Spirits project portfolio and utilize prioritization practices to ensure resources are assigned to the right projects.

  • Drive process improvements, and partner with key stakeholders in Finance, Sales, Insights, Operations, Legal, Growth, and Marketing for implementation.

  • Work closely with the Portfolio Manager to identify areas to enhance the product life cycle.

  • Guide, coach, and develop team of Project Managers.

Required Qualifications

  • BA required; MBA or MA preferred

  • Experience 6-8 years (strategic management, operations, analytics, project management)

ADA Physical/Mental/Workplace Requirements

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

  • Sitting, working at desk/personal computer for extended periods of time.

  • Primary work environment is professional corporate office.

Analyzes and prepares recommendations for project/portfolio valuation and risk assessment, including resource allocation, forecasts, and operational impacts. As UCSF Health continues to grow, this new role will provide leadership and ongoing development of Enterprise Portfolio Management within the Office of the CEO, which evaluates programs and proposals of significant financial value with broad impact across the organization This critical leadership position provides programmatic, analytical, and administrative oversight for Enterprise Portfolio Management, including the coordination and preparation of recommendations for project/portfolio valuation, resource allocation, forecasting, risk assessment and ongoing measurement. The position represents Enterprise Portfolio Management in all interactions with physicians, staff and all levels of management within UCSF Medical Center, UCSF Campus, as well as external partners. Key responsibilities include: Planning & Coordination * Manages project intake and serves as trusted advisor to project teams during the approval process. Educate stakeholders about the decision-making process and the requirements for project proposal submission and evaluation. Communicates decisions and next steps in the process as applicable. * Oversees proposal development process from intake to evaluation through approval; ensures completeness of project scope, resourcing needs, timing, etc. * Works with managers of targeted portfolios (e.g. capital, strategy, IT, etc.) and key stakeholders to identify project interrelationships that will affect portfolio priority and resource allocation decisions Project Decision Making * Facilitates the prioritization, selection, and approval of projects with significant financial value and impact * Ensures all required data for making portfolio decisions is available for decision making * Works with executive and finance leadership to determine the organization's risk profile, performs risk analyses, and makes recommendations concerning the portfolio Portfolio Administration * Maintains the master list of approved, deferred, or terminated projects * Establishes a regular review cycle for portfolio reviews as part of a roadmap guiding the implementation of approved projects * Works to identify and implement improvements to portfolio governance structures, decision making processes, and tools * Monitors resource constraints affecting the approval and completion of projects in the portfolio. Identify dependencies or conflicts between projects and facilitate a resolution process as needed.
