What you'll be doing...

The Senior Manager Process Engineering will work with business unit leaders and functional leaders at the highest levels within the organization to execute on a wide variety of strategic and transformative projects aimed at achieving the strategic and financial objectives of the business, and preparing the business for the future.

You will drive business transformation efforts, new revenue-generating initiatives, and/or analytics across one or more Verizon business units. These transformation initiatives will be conceived at the highest levels of the organization and, as such, will have the visibility at that level. Frame the initiative scope and strategy but will also lead the execution of the recommendations. You will lead the execution teams drawn from the Business Transformation group and the business and functional units. You will be responsible for overseeing various projects, processes and budgets all while being the Project Manager for Zero Based Budgeting (ZBB) for Contingent Labor.


  • Understanding and analyzing various drivers impacting expense/capital metrics and outcomes as well as providing a fact-based recommendation to the stakeholders on how these expenses can be optimized.

  • Project Manager lead for Zero Based Budgeting for Contingent Labor.

  • Leading conception, scope definition, and execution of various types of strategic and operational business transformation initiatives, ranging from Corporate and Operational Strategy to Process Improvement.

  • Providing proactive and engaged leadership on key projects designed to increase revenue, reduce expenses, enhance business efficiency, and improve customer experience.

  • Acting as an effective change agent utilizing proper stakeholder analysis and change management techniques.

  • Developing and implementing procedures for effective data management.

  • Leading a team providing extensive data analysis, root causation and remedial actions plans for performance improvement.

  • Working with the Director of Business Transformation and leaders, within the business units to provide effective leadership for the initiatives under analysis and execution.

  • Providing senior leadership and functional unit management with updates on project status, key metrics, issues, and risks.

  • Being a liaison between business units on projects that have a multi-organization or business unit scope.

  • Proactively anticipating and working towards mitigating risks to project execution or stakeholder engagement.

  • Actively working in cross disciplinary groups and making a case using rich data and presentation.

  • Walking through executive presentations that explains the complex data and algorithms used in simple easy-to-understand visually striking content that leave a residual impact on an executive audience.

  • Assisting teams in translating and coaching unstructured business problems into data science models and coming up with solutions.

  • Adapting to quickly changing business environments and requests that come in related to upper level executive requests.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, or relevant technical discipline or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, including ability to create presentations using MS PowerPoint and experience presenting to all levels of an organization

  • Experience creating and presenting Senior Executive Reviews, Project Overviews, and Operational Reviews to all levels of an organization.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word).

Even better if you have:

  • An MBA or advanced university degree.

  • Experience working in a tier-1 management consulting organization.

  • Experience in Wireline telecom or related industries.

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma and/or Project Management

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills, including ability to conduct outside/inside research, analyze data, and use MS Excel effectively to develop models and drive analyses.

  • Proven record for managing multiple simultaneous projects on time and budget.

  • Ability to drive results at all levels, regardless of reporting structures.

  • Proven record of performance and trusted professional credibility.

  • Experienced team leader with proven facilitation, change management, and problem solving experience.

  • Comfort in working up and across the organization working with senior staff members and front line employees.

  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking that results in new ideas that drive the business forward.

  • Track record of handling extremely confidential information appropriately.

  • Willingness to travel.

  • Valid driver's license.

POSITION OBJECTIVES: The Cell Therapy Pharmaceutical Sciences team in Cambridge, MA, is establishing internal capabilities to manufacture several parallel cell therapy programs for in-human clinical studies. This position's primary role is to provide scientific and technical input in bringing these programs to patients, with particular focus on qualification and optimization of processes methods that will deployed in manufacturing. In this role you will be expected to work within the GMP Manufacturing Engineering (GME) group, working with Development, Technical Operations and Quality to onboard new processes and instrumentation, and engineer them towards robust deployment and implementation in GMP. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Act as the SPOC for the interface with technical development organization to define and implement new technical standards for existing and new technologies and equipment. * Independently design and execute experiments to support tech transfer and process method development * Develop and implement validation policies to define process validation programs * Provide oversight via review and approval of site level deliverables, including Validation Master Plans, process validation protocols and risk assessments. * Support the development of process characterization and process control strategies in accordance with and manufacturing requirements. * Work cross-functionally with Development, Technical Operations and Quality groups to tech transfer and onboard new clinical manufacturing processes into GMP * Author and execute qualification and validation protocols, working in conjunction with the Technical Operation and Quality groups * Act as Process Engineering lead for Deviations, Root Cause Analysis, and CAPAs * Author and execute Life Cycle Management process activities, and define/coordinate the related Change Control Activities * Assist in the integration and implementation of digital data enterprises, including electronic Batch Record and data systems * Contribute to and review regulatory documents * Train operators and act as Manufacturing Process Engineering super user. Provide guidance and mentor junior scientists EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: * Bachelor's degree in life science-related or Engineering discipline with 10 years, Master's degree with 7 yrs. or Ph.D. with 5 years of experience in biotech or life sciences * Must have at least 5 years of industry experience in Cell Therapy development and manufacturing, including at least 5 years hands-on experience with GMP requirements, quality assurance and Process development. * Must be familiar with Process method qualification/validation requirements, as well as with GMP Change Control requirements. * Must be proficient at utilizing statistical analysis tools (JMP or similar) to drive experimental design and optimization via DoE and similar approaches * Must have prior experience with technology transfer, batch record editing, as well as training. * Experience in multidisciplinary clinical projects and teams with ability to integrate cross-functional information.
