Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Philanthropy and Community Relations manages the company's philanthropic efforts and charitable giving activities, including oversight of the JCPenney Communities Foundation and management of its board. Reporting directly to the VP, Corporate Communications and Philanthropy, the senior manager of philanthropy and community relations plays a strategic role in building stronger community relationships by working with leading nonprofit organizations who are making a difference in the lives of underserved youth and their families.This position will also lead a team responsible for executing critical elements of our community relations and associate volunteerism programs. This highly visible position works with senior-level executives, store leaders, finance and legal partners, to develop integrated philanthropic programs aligned to company goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages philanthropic support and community relations programs aligned closely with customer strategy including but not limited to opportunity gap youth, education, volunteerism and disaster relief

  • Leads our day-to-day philanthropic operations, including budget and grants administration, research and best practices, and program metrics

  • Leads the administration and effectiveness of the JCPenney Communities Foundation, including budget oversight and planning, board governance, grants administration, and community partner management

  • Leads and develops a team of philanthropy professionals, taking an active role in supporting their growth, engagement and contributions to the organization

  • Devises effective and compelling field campaigns and initiatives designed to raise associate and customer awareness and participation of philanthropic programs

  • Manages the company's disaster relief activities, including budget oversight, program strategies and approvals, internal coordination, logistics, and marketing support

  • Manages, tracks and reports on the company's donations of goods and in-kind services, working in partnership with key business teams

  • Manages and executes all vetting of potential non-profit partners/grantees, as well as overseeing external vendor partners that fulfill grants, volunteer grants and workplace giving activities

  • Sets clear goals, metrics and budgets, and ensures they are strategically aligned to the business

  • Serves as a brand ambassador for the company at charitable and community events, speaking confidently on the company's signature cause and social mission

  • Participates in project work and performs other duties as assigned

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • Bachelor's degree in Philanthropy, Communications or related field required. Retail category experience a plus.

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in corporate philanthropy or working for a non-profit organization required

  • Strategic growth mindset, demonstrating agility, innovation and critical thinking to navigate through complex issues and challenges in a fast-paced environment

  • Possesses strong business acumen with the ability to solve complex business problems with ingenuity, creativity and efficiency

  • Strong knowledge of philanthropic governance including risk and reporting

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships and consensus with executive leadership and community partners; adept at working cross-functionally to implement programs and outreach

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public presentation skills

The Director will engage to work collaboratively with USRC's Central Intake, Clinic Operations and Business Development leaders at USRC in assigned geography to execute growth strategy for new patient volume. Will serve as key USRC leader in developing strategic, tactical plans to optimize payor and community relationships with USRC clinics to ensure new patient growth targets are achieved. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned. * Develops pull-through strategy in assigned geography to grow clinic patient census/treatment volume by establishing forward-facing relationships with key referrals sources. * Establish USRC brand with key referral sources, analyze USRC market/clinic advantages/disadvantages to understand referral source needs and steerage decisions. * Builds, establishes and maintains referral source relationships with key payors, hospitals, physicians, and other referral sources. * Works in collaboration with field leadership to participate in and/or host in-service events with hospital case managers, large employers, key payors, health fairs and/or other community programs to promote USRC outreach for dialysis services and renal care education. * Work with USRC Marketing and other departments to develop materials for external distribution for meetings and events. * In collaboration with USRC Intake and other relevant departments, assists referral sources with establishing solid admission process for all patients being referred to USRC to ensure prompt admissions to USRC clinics. * In situations where there are referral source issues, works to ensure prompt resolution and satisfaction with all USRC stakeholders. * Ensures all pull-through strategies are aimed to optimize the patient experience at USRC. * Identifies new payor alignment strategies to elevate US Renal Care's position to participate in upper tier networks, value based networks and other narrow network opportunities that will increase patient steerage. * Establishes and maintains knowledge of dialysis industry trends, assigned geography local market trends and payor/governmental trends to monitor ongoing and/or future industry changes that may impact current or future business needs. * Manages to using tools that will establish metrics and monitor progress for established goals and growth targets. * Recruits, trains, develops, and supervises personnel as assigned. * For positions with direct reports: maintains effective personnel management and employee relations, including evaluating the performance of all personnel; approving and submitting all hours worked and counseling and disciplining employees. * Upholds management goals of corporation by leading staff in team concepts and promoting a team effort. * Effectively communicates expectations; accepts accountability and holds others accountable for performance. * Regular and reliable attendance is required for the job.
