Position Scope/Summary:

The primary purpose of this job is to serve as the facility's primary Production leader and have accountability for all operational performance. Provide direction and accountability to the Area Managers and other assigned company resources (personnel, equipment and materials) while collaborating with Engineering, Quality Supply Chain and Maintenance personnel to achieve work schedules and satisfy customer requirements in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Monitors and reviews all performance metrics which include but not limited to production efficiencies, shipments and delivery, quality metrics, revenue, safety and environmental, business continuity plans and others. Accountable for the ongoing development of high performing associates and teams. Also responsible for identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate Viant Values and adhere to all safety, regulatory and quality requirements, policies and procedures.

  • Provides direction in the resolution of technical and production-related problems to assure completion of weekly schedules that meet or exceed Company and Customer expectations.

  • Establishes effective staffing strategies to meet performance requirements including the balance of full-time and flex staffing options.

  • Monitors the alignment of product or line(s) with master production schedule and material planning to meet production goals.

  • Monitors plant wide performance measures, ensures goals are met and develops/implements corrective/ preventive actions or recovery plans as necessary.

  • Develops and maintains direct relationships with customers in order to better understand the voice of the customer. Participates on customer business reviews and will generate the necessary action plants in order to achieve outstanding customer service results.

  • Ensures work orders are closed in Oracle and data is accurate.

  • Drives a workforce culture that fosters a safe work environment and self-directed team approach. This includes setting strategic safety initiatives yearly and facilitating the tactical execution of those safety initiatives.

  • Identifies, arranges and/or provides training to ensure a safe, efficient, quality work environment with focus on continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing principles.

  • Facilitates communication, coordination and conflict resolution within and among work groups.

  • Provides leadership to managers and supervisors in all areas including: hiring, performance management, coaching, counseling and corrective actions.

  • Develops and monitors budgetary guidelines and spending levels to ensure cost-effective operation.

  • Prepares and manages operational and capital expenditure budgets

  • Promotes an atmosphere of diversity, open communication and trust, affording opportunities for training and growth.

  • Remains flexible to the needs of the business and performs other functions as required.

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage daily plant operations.

  • Oversee Direct and Indirect Labor Associates insuring that policies and procedures are in compliance.

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts.

  • Exhibit complete ownership of Plant Operations

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in technical or business related field or comparable manufacturing experience.

  • Minimum Experience: 5-7 years manufacturing experience with progressive responsibilities and leadership experience. Experience in medical device industry preferred.

  • Knowledge & Skills: Experience in management of production schedules, reading technical documents and blueprints preferred. Lean Six/Sigma Green/Black Belt or Lean Master Certification strongly preferred. Leadership, problem-solving, strong interpersonal skills, delivers results, sense of urgency and bias for taking action.

Environmental Working Conditions:

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
