Overview

Walsh is currently seeking a Senior Manager of Quality for the LaGuardia Redevelopment Project in New York, NY.

The Senior Manager of Quality is responsible to assist the development of the Design Build effort of the LaGuardia Center Terminal Replacement Project. The position develops, directs, and supervises the QA and QC functions/activities and ensures that work meets client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight of engineers, inspectors and administrators who assure the overall quality of the installed product.

  • Ensure that construction quality plan continuously meets the requirements as specified in contract documents as well as what is determined necessary to perform the work successfully

  • Sustain a project culture where quality is at the core of everything we do, and that we should do things right the first time.

  • Contributes expertise to the work planning process, while aiding other in-house personnel (Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, etc.) and external personnel to produce and document a quality product

  • Coordinates testing laboratory technicians and interprets test results

  • Develop transparency, trust, and clear expectations with the Client

  • Act as liaison with Client on quality related matters

  • Ensure successful engagement with the Client, the Designer's A/EOR , and Project teams

  • Lead internal and external QC and QA meetings with project staff and Sr. Leadership and the Client

  • Ensure that there is a clear path to Client acceptance of the works

  • Coach and Mentor team members in cases of noncompliance

  • Ensure that the requirement for quality inspection records, testing and report documentation, and other compliance items are well defined and followed.

  • Ensure that the project assign Third Party Independent Special Inspection Agencies for on-site and off-site QC and QA Inspections.

  • Ensure that process for managing project closeout documents is well defined and followed

  • Stop work if necessary to resolve matters that affect Quality or inhibit the logical progress of work

  • Establish, implement and maintain the SWJV Quality Management System

  • Drive ISO9001 implementation across the project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction or Engineering, MS degree in a technical discipline preferred

  • 15 years of experience in Design or construction, including experience as a Resident Engineer for a large public agency

  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) License strongly preferred

  • Management or consultancy of a quality control program for a large and complex construction project (Hospitals, Airports, Power plants)

  • Quality control testing and inspection experience, ability to coordinate and manage inspection staff and inspection/testing subcontractors

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with subcontractors, superintendents, project staff, consultants, and owner's representatives

  • Ability to speak clearly and exercise good judgment

  • Ability to manage work load effectively including plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to challenge the status quo

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement across the business

Its goals are to gain assurance that Underwriting utilizes best practices, adheres to company guidelines, and that policies are issued with accurate ratings at the best offer possible.  Additionally, the UW QC evaluates consistency across all underwriting locations and results are utilized to determine training needs, update the Underwriting Manual, and suggest system enhancements. The UW QC team consists of the CVP/Manager, one QC Associate, and six Underwriters who review underwritten cases on a daily basis.  QC Underwriters on the team will periodically need to complete a short-term rotation to a production underwriting zone to refresh their skills and maintain current on zone procedures.   Major Responsibilities * Perform quality reviews of underwritten policies. * Meet production standards as it pertains to the number of daily cases reviewed. * Document reviews and findings in an Excel spreadsheet. * Mentor/coach the team in daily quality reviews and peer review the team's work.
