We're looking for a smart and highly motivated Senior Manager, Network Engineering to join the IT Operations group. Part of the IT Operations group, the Network Engineering team is responsible for operating the Splunk corporate, development, and production infrastructure within our cloud and data center environments. We are looking for a hands-on manager to lead this team.

As a member of the team, you'll work on and manager design and feature improvements to keep our systems running smoothly. Some of our current projects include:

  • Design and implement a Zero-Trust security model

  • Redesign the Global WAN

  • Multi-cloud design and integration

  • Automate our network via Ansible, Jenkins, and Terraform

In this role, you'll be given an exceptional opportunity to innovate within Splunks rapid-paced development environment.

You'll also ensure that our network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues.

In the role of Senior Network Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of experienced network engineers dedicated to success.

You will:

  • Review and refresh the technology

  • Lead and direct all aspects of the 24 7 365 most important network telecommunication infrastructure operations; including planning, crafting, implementing, deploying, supporting and maintaining functions

  • Exercise leadership and day-to-day management of technical teams tasked with the operations of the data center, data network, telecom network, operations, and services

  • Serve as the senior-level escalation point for network operations and infrastructure managers and staff that responds and resolves all infrastructure operational issues

  • Establish high performance and optimized network operations center and telecommunication infrastructure, facilities and services

  • Manage external vendor relationships with contract administrators to review, negotiate, and revise important contracts

  • Oversee the management of service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors and service providers

  • Develops policies and procedures for all IT infrastructure operating environments

  • Report key metrics on network telecommunication infrastructure operational activity

  • Manage and oversee the maintenance of all assets for the networks, telecommunications and other infrastructure

  • Provide strategic direction for growth with business plans for technology infrastructure operations

Design infrastructure technology services to meet business SLAs

  • Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities*

  • Knowledge of network-based systems operations and maintenance, including a deep understanding of protocols and tools necessary for effective resolution of maintenance requests and tracking operational processes

  • Knowledge of data center operations and capacity planning

  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for managing instrumentation and process control operations and troubleshooting

  • In-depth knowledge of the following: data center facilities management, data center backbone networks, server farms, large-scale storage area networks (SAN) and data center provisioning processes

  • Technical skills required to handle UNIX Linux, MS Windows and VMWare environments

  • Strong customer-focus skills with ability to recognize customer requirements, assist customer in achieving their goals, manage customer expectations and consistently achieve high customer satisfaction

  • Strong interpersonal and management skills; ability to efficiently handle a variety of multiple concurrent projects at a time

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, engineering, IT or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Ten plus years' experience in data center WAN LAN telecommunication administration and network operations management including designing, managing and implementing network and data center infrastructure to support organizations disaster recovery COOP and business continuity plans

  • Five plus years' managing technology teams

  • Experience with infrastructure network operations support and PBX implementation and support

  • Experience designing and implementing operational plans, which may include budgets, processes and infrastructure methodologies
