The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $93,600.00 - $168,500.00

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships of trust with school and Marketing leaders; facilitate strong cross-organizational information sharing and cooperative strategy development.

  • Be the expert in all marketing activities and internal and external factors influencing college performance.

  • Represent Marketing in cross-functional reporting and other settings, including interfacing with executive leadership and standing in for the school's Marketing Director when needed.

  • Partner and lead in setting school-specific performance targets, and provide regular reporting, forecasts, and root-cause insights to inform ongoing adjustments to drive KPIs.

  • Drive school-specific marketing initiatives, partnering with various teams across Marketing to translate strategies into tactical execution.

  • Work closely with internal and/or agency creative teams to ensure that creative requests are accurate, on time, and on brand.

  • Some travel required (up to 10%)

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Significant client or key stakeholder management experience.

  • Executive-level communication ability. Must be able to clearly and persuasively communicate both verbally and in writing with staff at all levels of the university.

  • Strong quantitative and strategic analysis skills. Must be able to gather and analyze structured and unstructured data and research to identify significant trends, implications, and opportunities.

  • Fluency in a wide variety of marketing disciplines, including traditional and digital media, SEO, content marketing, and conference and event marketing.

  • Exceptional project management and organization skills.

  • Drive and ability to influence others to act without direct reporting authority.

  • Success working across marketing disciplines including brand development, creative, paid media, social media, interactive products, email, field marketing, PR, and analytics

  • Comfort working as part of a hybrid in-person/remote team

  • Proven collaborator with a track record of executing complex projects involving cross-functional teams

  • Methodical, systematic, and highly organized

  • Excellent written and verbal communicator capable of building strong relationships across contributors and teams, including C-level executives

  • Ability to organize information and effectively present issues, recommendations, and conclusions

  • Innovative and inclined to explore new approaches via constant learning and optimization

  • Strong critical thinker capable of making smart judgments under pressure

  • Ability to manage time and resources for multiple projects at one time

Leadership and Talent Management:

  • Manages a team of professionals. Manages the work of assigned employees and/or supervisors who generally exercise some latitude and independence in their assignments.

  • Ensures proper training of team members, and actively participates in hiring, firing, and promotion decisions. Conducts performance reviews and recommends salary reviews.

  • Primarily achieves goals through leading a team.

Job Qualifications:

Department Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field required

  • 7+ years of marketing domain experience, 3+ years as a manager, leading a team

  • Budget management experience, including responsibility for marketing budgets of $5M+

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multicultural marketing experience

  • Located in Salt Lake City, UT, Phoenix, AZ, or Austin, TX Strongly preferred.

  • Industry experience in higher education and/or areas relevant to WGU colleges (e.g., business, healthcare, K12 education, IT)

  • Master's degree

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
