CSL Behring, a leading global biopharmaceutical company, is looking for a Senior Manager, Linux Systems Engineering (Open Systems) who will be responsible for overseeing the Linux and HP UX infrastructure functional area at both local and global level, as well as, responsible for the technical services group and for some of the technical aspects of the Business Technology (BT) Infrastructure which include Server OS based on Linux or HP UX, and additional responsibilities that can include the Service Desk group in case of planning, management, and control of the activities and the personnel supporting the Service Desk.
Project Management / Solution delivery.
Support Project Managers Role in accordance with the BT project management methodology as defined in QMS; ensuring that project work is completed within budget and on schedule.
Participates in Project Review Status meetings and Steering Committees as required to ensure project scope, cost, schedule and quality are in alignment. Additionally, provide leadership and oversight of other project roles such as validation and design lead.
Oversee/Manage the on-going operations for the infrastructure area including; resource planning, scheduling and prioritization of resources and system enhancements, release management, planning maintenance activities, ensuring appropriate off-hours support, providing input to user training and planning strategic BT initiatives. Compile and maintain an inventory of company software and their corresponding contracts/agreements. Provide updates to the Enterprise Architecture group for inclusion in the overall inventory. Establish key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of BT processes and improve daily operations and project delivery.
Manage/oversee the infrastructure Open Systems team (including non-employees) training programs and compliance with the appropriate regulatory guidelines (e.g. cGMP), global BT procedures, BT standards, BT practices and Computer Systems Validation methodology as defined by QMS (global BT Quality Management System) and based upon the application business function. Provide support for audit activities as necessary.
Participate in the development of the strategic infrastructure roadmaps and provide input to the overall Infrastructure BT Strategy; direct the implementation of the strategy.
The infrastructure roadmap will incorporate and consider Business input regarding functionality and strategy, technology standards and policies, vendor/software/hardware life-cycles, maintenance and upgrade strategies, sourcing (internal, out-sourcing, hosting etc.) and Disaster Recovery strategy (business continuity)
Directs a team of approximately 8 people located around the world supporting Infrastructure
Participate, as assigned, in the management of specific cost centers, in the annual budgeting process (Opex and Capex), periodic forecasting activities, on-going expense management (ensuring compliance with delegation of authority limits), project cost tracking and capital recovery process. Develop capital expenditure proposals and cost estimates for BT projects as required
Responsible, in conjunction with Global Sourcing when applicable) for managing the vendor relationship including; selection, negotiation, establishing service levels (SLAs), monitoring and reviewing performance and contract management
Maintain a working knowledge of current technologies and best practices related to the infrastructure area. Provide technical leadership, propose and assess design solutions, evaluate vendor technology and consider industry trends and future requirements as defined in the infrastructure roadmap
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; educational concentration in IT, science or engineering
7-10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience
Experience in managing a geographically dispersed team (domestically or globally)
Linux and HP UX infrastructure experience
Preferred Skills & Experience (not required):
Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience preferred.
Master's degree is preferred Certifications: IT Security Industry certifications (CISM, CISSP, CISA, etc)
