About the team and position

The Senior Manager, Learning & Development is obsessed with ensuring team members and leaders are set up for success. This leader oversees Leadership Development, Talent Programs and Learning Experience & Design teams dedicated to developing, implementing and managing programs and learning content designed to elevate the team member and leader experience and continuously raise the bar on the performance & development of our people.

This role is responsible for partnering with department leadership to strategically drive organizational effectiveness through the creation, execution, and management of multiple talent and leadership development programs and innovative learning solutions. More specifically, the Leadership and Talent Programs Senior Manager is a strategic operator, consultative, and a thoughtful People Operations professional, ready to roll up their sleeves to partner with department leaders, Talent Partners, and our Technical Training & Learning and Design teams to create and execute awesome and effective talent programs.

In this role you will improve processes and drive efficiencies, collaborate with and advise leaders on talent needs and programmatic solutions. You'll analyze qualitative & quantitative program data to inform wins and opportunities. Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the future of Carvana's talent and will see your insights have an immediate impact in a well-funded and rapidly growing company.

What you'll be doing

  • Drive & execute the strategy, development, implementation, and management of leadership and talent related programs (employee onboarding, leadership and career development, retention and recognition, team member experience, etc.).

  • Lead and guide team projects and workflows designing, developing and delivering innovative learning solutions through a number of modalities including e-learning, video, self-guiding learning, instructor led courses and blended learning.

  • Partner with department leaders and talent development partners to identify talent needs and strategically identify programmatic solutions.

  • Successfully deploy and iterate talent programs to proactively meet the needs of a fast-paced, hypergrowth organization.

  • Empower managers to build amazing teams by providing them with the necessary tools, resources and training needed - collaborate with technical training teams to supplement leader & team member development.

  • Assess employee development needs and recommend solutions.

  • Partner & collaborate with the rest of the People Operations team to develop and execute innovative people programs that will be a catalyst to our high-performance culture.

  • Oversee key stakeholder relationships throughout the organization.

  • Maintain high-level awareness of the talent picture across all departments to help team members navigate program design, approach, and effectiveness.

  • Lead, develop and/or oversee a high performing, cohesive & collaborative team. Ensure employees have a clear understanding of how they can grow and thrive by focusing on development, coaching, and career pathing.

  • Consistently looking for ways to improve on learning and design processes, workflows, products and turnaround times

  • Report and articulate measurable success metrics of talent programs to department leaders, People Operations leaders, and executive leadership.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you should have/know

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited undergraduate institution.

  • 5+ years' experience in learning & development, training, talent or organizational development, human resources, or related field.

  • 5+ years' of people leadership experience.

  • An outstanding communicator with relationship-building skills - your friends would call you authentic, energetic, persuasive, and self-aware. You know when to listen, as well as when to speak up.

  • Strong facilitation and project management skills.

  • Able to hustle - you get things done even after everyone else has given up, and work hard because you love to. You have a bias towards action.

  • Passionate about helping and empowering others.

  • Demonstrated track record of developing effective relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Problem solving capabilities with ability to apply judgment and make decisions.

  • Displays strong business acumen - sees the big picture and operates with perspective.

It would be great if you also had

  • Master's degree.

  • Background in program management, preferable related to talent/leader development.
