The Position on our Team:

As a Senior Manager of Information Technology, you are responsible for guiding the company's IT infrastructure. You will also align the strategic planning, development, and maintenance of systems with organizational goals. Your management of a team of engineers to oversee and successfully complete vulnerability management, project execution, incident triage and general infrastructure maintenance ensures a robust, secure, and efficient infrastructure that supports business operations.

This is a full-time position with a hybrid schedule of three days of in-office work and two days of remote work.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Staff Management:

  • Manages all staff to ensure they are meeting expectations and working effectively within their role.

  • Ensures all staff follow all IT department and corporate policies and standards.

  • Ensure teams are properly trained.

  • Ensures all priorities are aligned with management expectations and coordinates staff appropriately to meet those needs.

  • Assist and mentor junior members in the department.

  • Defines and maintains the IT infrastructure roadmap.

  • Works with management to understand BCP and DR requirements and provides guidance on meeting requirements.

  • Maintains all infrastructure documentation (configurations, standards, processes, procedures, etc.) to ensure it is current and managed appropriately.

  • Actively manage vendors appropriately for all engagements, including one-time projects and ongoing management of the infrastructure. Also utilizing vendors to assist in enhancing staff knowledge, find appropriate solutions and assisting engineers when infrastructure issues arise.

  • Participate in IT CITCAM activities and support the overall goals and objectives of the IT department including IT and company culture.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to Macerich:

  • Education and Experience: The senior manager of IT, Infrastructure should have a strong background in technology. Knowledge of system engineering, network engineering and general infrastructure is needed both on a corporate level and for property related technology as well. A minimum of 5-7 years in a leadership role in information technology or equivalent.

  • Department Engagement and Culture: Contributes to the overall success of the IT department through engagement both within and outside their individual teams; fosters a collaborative environment that bridges the IT department and other business units, and actively demonstrates, supports and promotes the corporate values of excellence, good relationships, optimism, integrity, empowerment and fun; committed to cultivating a positive company culture and dedicated to advocating for a diverse and inclusive work environment across the organization.

  • Task Management and Prioritization: Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage and switch between competing tasks, aligning individual efforts with the team's priorities. Maintains focus and ensures timely progress without sacrificing quality. Keeps managers and co-workers apprised of task status, collaborating and communicating transparently where appropriate.

  • Communication: Demonstrates effective communication skills essential for this role; emphasizes collaboration and clear dialogue within the team and with other colleagues; engages proactively with peers, department members, and any relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding; fosters a cooperative and transparent work environment; committed to providing timely responses to inquiries and requests, recognizing the importance of prompt and attentive communication in achieving team goals.

  • Compliance, Risk Management, and Cybersecurity: Adheres to all company and department guidelines and operational processes, including incident management, change management, and knowledge management protocols; possesses basic knowledge of risk management practices and maintains vigilant adherence to cyber and privacy requirements; ensures the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information in alignment with organizational standards and regulatory mandates.

  • Infrastructure Domain Knowledge: Has strong expertise in infrastructure technologies including system and network engineering. Can provide strategic direction and guidance on network technologies and system technologies as well as high level knowledge of cybersecurity vulnerabilities to be able to remediate as directed by the cybersecurity team.

  • Incident Response: Ability to promptly respond and lead the response to infrastructure incidents with detailed and descriptive updates, follow operational procedures accurately and can provide and lead detailed post-event analyses.

  • Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with other IT professionals and departments to achieve common goals and provide direction. Effectively manage a team of engineers to provide guidance on projects, prioritization, and coordinate efforts with other groups within IT and can mediate conflicts with other managers.

  • Department Engagement: Demonstrates high level of department engagement, ability and willingness to train, mentor and develop junior level staff.

  • Change Management: Assumes a leadership role in spearheading change management initiatives within the organization. Independently develops comprehensive change management strategies within their team, including effective communication plans, stakeholder engagement strategies, and training programs.

  • Business & Data Knowledge: Has a detailed knowledge of various business unit operations and their use of technology solutions. Understands major concepts of the organization's data structure, infrastructure, and management.

  • Vendor Management: Fully manage vendor relationships to support infrastructure projects and management without management assistance.

  • Multi-tasking and Prioritization: Demonstrates the ability to multitask and navigate competing priorities under minimal supervision without missing deadline.

  • Documentation: Create clear, concise, and complete documents when applicable for Macerich solutions, including standards, configuration, processes, and procedure documents. This includes the ability to produce clear and concise procedure documentation and detailed incident management updates.

  • Project Management: Ability to independently manage larger initiatives/projects successfully by tracking deliverables and completing initiatives per the appropriate timeline. Will provide communication to the project management team on their team's ability to meet deliverables and strategize with project management on project priorities.
