Free Assembly is seeking an experienced, creative and passionate Kid's Technical Design Lead to join our team as we create and launch this new line of kid's clothing!
Free Assembly is bringing a modern aesthetic for the new America with a sustainable apparel brand that currently offers women's and men's- and soon children's clothing- across Walmart Stores and Walmart eComm. What you'll do
Collaborate with designers to translate Design's vision for kids into reality
For the first year especially, you will need to be both player and coach as we manage the heavy lifting of creating a new line
Manage all kids' styles, from the development stage to TOP
Strive for a consistent fit experience across product categories, fabrics, and styles
Work jointly with Production team to successfully manage calendar and deadlines
Develop blocks and novelty styles each season
Help create a new brand and its culture
Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in technical design, with a focus on kids' clothing and a strong knowledge of patternmaking and grading
Experienced in managing multiple product categories
Can confidently evaluate garments, lead fittings, and clearly communicate sample comments & pattern corrections to vendors.
Understand costing challenges, and are able to balance quality standards with appropriate cost-effective solutions
Are comfortable with MS Office, Illustrator, and PLM platforms
Are an effective and respected leader
Know how to roll up your sleeves and get things done
Thrive in a small team environment
Ideally have experience in a start-up environment
Value creativity, teamwork and positive energy

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Business, Textiles , Design, or related field and 4 years' experience in technical design, product development, or related area OR 6 years' experience in technical design, product development, or related area. 1 year's supervisory experience.
