Sam's Club Controllership provides timely reporting and decision support aligned with reporting requirements for the Sam's Club segment.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Manager II, Controllership (Financial Reporting & Controls-Sam's Finance) supports Sam's Club membership and marketing, and is responsible for financial accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and consulting with business partners.

You'll sweep us off our feet if

  • You have proven experience reporting in compliance with SEC guidelines and US GAAP.

  • You have knowledge of how high-level accounting impacts business decisions.

  • You have demonstrated technical accounting experience.

  • You are comfortable talking to a wide variety of business partners.

  • You are experienced in revenue recognition and supplier funds.

  • You have retail experience.

  • You have demonstrated proficiency working cross-functionally.

  • You have demonstrated excellent ability to interface with and influence senior executives.

  • You are a master at making complex subjects easily understood.

  • You're stimulated by challenges and are ready to engage at Fortune 1 scale.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Providing accounting guidance to Sam's Club Finance and other business partners on all matters pertaining to the Membership, Marketing, and Sam's Media Group ("SMG") in accordance with Global Accounting Policies.

  • Being responsible for the accuracy and completeness of Sam's Membership income recognition and deferral and related internal controls.

  • Being responsible for the Sam's Instant Savings Book accounting and invoicing process.

  • Being responsible for accounting decisions related to SMG, in addition to month- and quarter-end financial review.

  • Creating accounting flow for the Sam's Cash membership rewards project.

  • Providing accounting support surrounding Cash Rewards.

  • Providing accounting support surrounding Wholesale trading (truckload sales), including quarterly deposit analysis.

  • Performing quarterly analysis related to return center reserves.

  • Reviewing all marketing contracts in DocuSign for accounting implications.

  • Assisting Merchandise Solutions and Finance with accounting issues related to Sam's Club's data monetization platform.

  • Supporting monthly Sam's segment close process for all Membership, Marketing, and SMG-related items and package ownership.

  • Supporting Sam's Financial Reporting with Quarter and Year-End external reporting requirements.

  • Performing timely account reconciliation approvals ensuring appropriate actions are taken in accordance with the Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation policy.

  • Driving transformation and simplification in alignment with the Global Controllership Pillars.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 4 years of experience in Accounting, Finance or related field OR 6 years of experience in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience OR 1-3 years' experience leading cross- functional teams or projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, or related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or related financial certification.

  • 1 year strategic planning experience.

  • 1 year retail experience.
