Position Summary...

What you'll do...

As a Senior Manager II, Compliance And Ethics Operations

  • Food Safety Labeling, you will work cross functionally with regulators, suppliers, merchants, product developers, our Private Brands teams, and internal food safety and health teams to manage food safety label compliance requirements for U.S. Walmart and Sam's Club. Additionally, you will represent food safety compliance across all our business partners, as a Food Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME), modeling and guiding compliance to Food Safety policies and procedures.

As a Senior Manager II you will...

  • Support the overall business as food safety label compliance SME for stores, clubs, e-Commerce, and DC's

  • Plan and manage the implementation of all change management necessary for ensuring compliance with new and emerging label regulations

  • Liaise with Private Brands team and external partners (3rd party partners, regulatory, consultants, etc.) to support our business partners and compliance

  • Oversee and continuously improve allergen management strategies and controls for stores, clubs, and DC's

  • Manage and the Vendor Self-Certification Program (VSC) including annual audits, re-certification, and continuous improvement

  • Review supporting documentation and decision making on supplier secondary allergen exemption applications

  • Provide subject matter expertise on Country-of-Origin Labeling (COOL) and Prop 65 inquiries

  • Manage the development of SOP's that document departmental processes and procedures

  • Be an ambassador for Walmart, Global Ethics and Compliance, and Food Safety ensuring strict standards of ethics and integrity across the business

You'll sweep us off our feet if

  • You possess a Juris Doctor degree or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Dietetics, or related field

  • You have 5+ years of experience/background in food regulatory labeling

  • You have experience building and designing programs that drive enhanced execution and compliance

  • You are strategic, influential, and progressive with the ability to translate business challenges into practical business solutions in a highly complex, rapidly evolving environment

  • You are action-oriented, resourceful, and approachable while also having the ability to influence and lead change, based on your experience and network

Directs complex compliance and ethics programs and reviews by identifying industry best practices and incorporating them into compliance and ethics programs; managing the implementation and maintenance of compliance and ethics programs; conducting reviews; providing feedback and training of identified errors; escalating on-going performance concerns to leadership; and ensuring global implementation of the compliance and ethics programs. Oversees and monitors compliance and ethics training and education at the regional level by managing the development of the training strategy; analyzing compliance and ethics data to determine trends or areas of opportunity; identifying, communicating, and monitoring the execution of compliance and ethics best practices; conducting and facilitating ongoing training; ensuring trainers are properly trained. Develops divisional strategies and programs to prevent violations of compliance and ethics programs by advising business leaders on ethical investigative processes; building relationships with internal organizations to better understand their business practices. Drives state and federal regulatory outreach to build relationships and influence decisions for risk monitoring and mitigation by ensuring the company's compliance and ethics programs, policies, procedures, and reports are communicated in a persuasive, accurate, and understandable way to regulators; communicating success of programs to regulators, state and federal officials; mentoring regional-level operators on engaging state and federal regulators; tracking and identifying legislative issues that may have a business impacts on the division; providing recommendations to leadership on compliance and ethics strategies; developing external relationships and alliances to strengthen the company's reputation with state and federal compliance community; and overseeing regulatory outreach meetings with state and federal government officials. Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Business, Marketing, or related field plus 5 years of experience in ethics and compliance or related experience; OR 7 years of experience in ethics and compliance or related experience.
