Amazon Global Logistics is seeking an experienced candidate to be a part of the team that is working on exciting global logistics products and programs. As a Principal Product Manager for AGL, you will use a combination of outstanding leadership, thought clarity, analytical skills, cross-functional partnership, business judgment, and strategic thinking to innovate on behalf of our customers, vendors and suppliers.

The Principal Product Manager will thrive working with business and technology teams, developing both processes and software solutions to address problems facing customers, sellers & vendors across the world. The Principal Product Manager will have a proven track record of owning and delivering world-class experiences and solutions. You will need to thrive and deliver results in an ambiguous, fast-paced, dynamic business environment.

The chosen candidate will develop and implement strategies and solutions that will enable the movement of product from the point of manufacturing to our fulfillment centers around the world. Capabilities developed will promote Amazon sellers and vendors to reach markets at the right pace and lowest cost in order to expand selection and decrease prices for Amazon's customers.

Innovation is one of the team's core principles and so the ideal candidate for this role will have a natural curiosity about the way things work, is willing to take risks by jumping into new experiences, and is always looking to improve upon the status quo. In this role, you will be tasked with building predictive models that drive business value by extending the frontier of what's done today. You will have the opportunity to mine large datasets for historical patterns and then you will be asked to question whether those patterns will persist into the future. Responsibilities: * Can select from and execute with the proper statistical tool given the objective of the analysis and the expectations of key stakeholders. * Develops programs to analyze large datasets in both Python and R. * Builds models using state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and has firm grasp of the drivers of success of those models. * Researches techniques and methods to improve the previous state-of-the-art. Reviews highly technical literature and is capable of testing and applying relevant findings in their own domain. * Shows a passion for continuous learning and regularly shares ideas with the broader team. * Demonstrates the ability to connect their work back to the goals of the organization through complex cost/benefit evaluations and persuasive read-outs. * Writes efficient and reviewable code with good version control discipline and reproducibility in mind. * Translates quantitative analyses and findings into accessible visuals for non-technical audiences, providing a clear view into interpreting the data. * Regularly engages with the data science community and participates and/or leads cross-functional working groups. * May manage technical aspects of vendor relationships. * May supervise data science and other technical interns. Qualifications: * Preparation, Training and Experience Broad knowledge of predictive analytic techniques and statistical diagnostics of models. Expert knowledge of predictive toolset; reflects as expert resource for tool development. * Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely. Ability to establish and build relationships within and outside the organization. Ability to give effective training and presentations to management and other groups. Broad knowledge of business drivers and market context. Has a value-driven perspective with regard to understanding of work context and impact. * Competencies typically acquired through a Ph.D. degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science or other scientific field of study) and 1-4 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree (scientific field of study) and 3-5 years of relevant experience or may be acquired through a Bachelor's degree(scientific field of study) and 5-7 years of relevant experience.
