About the role:

We are currently seeking a Sr. Manager of Engineering at our Bear Run Mine.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Sr Manager Engineering is responsible for the execution and administration of all engineering services at the mine site.

Duties will include:

  • Visibly support and champion Peabody's Missions and Values

  • Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System

  • Plan, direct and lead the work of direct report(s), crew(s) or team(s)

  • Develop strategy and long range mine planning to achieve targeted mine performance

  • Select, develop, and deploy engineering expertise to ensure projects are completed in accordance with budgetary and quality requirements

  • Develop engineering standards and policy within the organization

  • Develop and control departmental budgets and forecasts

  • Complete financial and operational analysis for potential capital expenditures

  • Manage the engineering function in a professional and profitable manner

  • Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements

  • Other duties as assigned by the company

The lifestyle:

This position is a full time dayshift role, working on a Monday-Friday roster out of our Bear Run Mine.

About you:

  • B.S. in Mining, Civil Engineering or related field required

  • P.E. certification preferred

  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • 10 years of experience managing an engineering function required

  • Minimum of 5, preference of 7, years supervisory experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours

  • Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone

  • Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents

  • Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person

  • Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.

VIEW JOBS 12/17/2021 12:00:00 AM 2022-03-17T00:00 Position Overview Navistar's Proving Grounds has an opening for a Senior Engineer. Project Lead for the Structural Validation Group. The Engineer will coordinate Road Load Data Acquisition (RLDA) projects to be run on development trucks at the Navistar Proving Grounds (NPG). Project coordination includes working with Designers, CAE Analysts, Program & Vehicle Engineers, Instrumentation Technicians, and Test Drivers. The Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the data collection activity, including instrumentation, supporting the trucks while they drive the test route at NPG, data analysis and presenting results to other teams in the Product Development organization. This is a high-visibility role with involvement in product programs starting at the concept stage all the way through to final engineering signoff. Opportunity for working from home between testing projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Project Lead - Coordinate large channel count data collections with designers, analyst, program teams, vehicle engineers. Part Assembly - Basic mechanical assembly, wrenches, sockets, impact tools, drills, etc. Instrumentation - Select accelerometers, load cells, string pots, strain gages for instrumentation. Fixture Design - Create custom strain gaged load cells to capture loads during RLDA Data Acquisition - Set up and collect data with Somat Data Acquisition Units Data Analysis - Strain based life predictions, PSD, Block cycle test profiles, Shaker profiles Software - Excel, VBA, nCode, LabVIEW, MATLAB, TCE Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology At least 2 years of experience in product design/development OR Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
