Construction Department

The Construction team is responsible for the management of delivering data centers from conception through commissioning, working with Sales, Operations, Development, and Engineering along the way. Construction also works closely with partner contractors to come up with a vertically integrated design and manages these partners to deliver the projects on schedule and budget. Many times, a role like this at other companies is purely oversight. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our technical staff is given the responsibility and authority to directly drive the process. When compared to external resources, our internal team can align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with goals of the company. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high- impact decisions and even more impactful results.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, and experienced Senior Manager, General Contractor Procurement to join our team. In this role, you will manage the procurement process for general contractors, coordinating the entire bidding and contracting process, from initial planning to project completion! This role involves negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, tracking project progress, and ensuring alignment with budget and timelines. As a Senior Manager, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, requiring regular coordination with external partners and internal teams such as Construction, Finance, Operations, and Legal.

This role can be based in any of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA.

Essential Job Functions

• Develop and manage the procurement strategy for general contractors, ensuring alignment with project requirements and company objectives.

• Prepare and issue RFPs, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts with general contractors.

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including prequalification, bidding, contract negotiation, and award.

• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and legal requirements.

• Oversee multiple procurement projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

• Track project progress and ensure alignment with budgets and schedules.

• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure procurement activities align with project timelines and objectives.

• Manage change orders and contract amendments as necessary.

• Serve as the primary liaison between general contractors and internal stakeholders.

• Communicate project updates, changes, and issues to relevant parties.

• Collaborate with the construction team to ensure seamless integration of procurement activities with project execution.

• Support finance and accounting teams with budgeting, invoicing, and cost reconciliation.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors and other key suppliers.

• Conduct regular performance reviews and manage supplier performance.

• Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company.

• Identify and mitigate risks associated with contractor performance and project delivery.

• Develop and manage procurement budgets, ensuring alignment with overall project budgets.

• Monitor and control costs, ensuring procurement activities deliver value for money.

• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential procurement risks.

• Provide regular reports on procurement activities, including cost savings, project progress, and supplier performance.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field is required.

• A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or construction management is required.

• Experience in the data center or construction industry is strongly preferred.

• Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier relationship management.

• Experience with construction contracts, including negotiating terms and conditions.

• Knowledge of construction management processes and industry best practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Proficiency in procurement software and tools.

• Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves

Additional Details

• Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

• This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.

• Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
