Position Summary:

This position is reports to the Global Controller for the adequacy of controls, accounting and reporting procedures for the region and for global coherence. Acts as the key finance partner to the Regional Managing Director for all the functional communities of the Americas Region. Prepares, coordinates, and accepts accountability for the financial reporting for the Americas Region and supports the same globally. Partners with the Managing Director and the regional leadership team, functional managers, and staff to identify ways to control and decrease costs and create efficiencies. Drives continuous improvement in all facets of the position with an emphasis on enhancing the value of the Finance function within the Region and supports the same globally.

Is the lead in developing both regional and global business process improvements utilizing existing and new system technology. Understands and can explain the drivers that move each of the line items in the financial statements for the region.

Provides quality data to drive the growth and profitability of the Company. Provides financial analysis and reporting both internally with company management and externally with our tax and audit partners.

Provides transformational leadership for the Finance function and for the Company.


  • Supervises and delegates to the finance staff for those areas including manufacturing and inventory accounting, general ledger, account reconciliations and financial statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.

  • Ensures the adequacy of internal controls, accounting and financial reporting procedures.

  • Establishes new and revises existing procedures for the Americas Region and supports the same globally.

  • Coordinates audit and tax preparation activity, including the preparation of supporting schedules and documents.

  • Supports the preparation of the monthly consolidated financial results.

  • Coordinates the consistent analysis of financial data and presents reports in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Keeps the Managing Director aware of the financial status of the Americas Region.

  • Coordinates the preparation of the annual budgets for the Americas Region. Prepares in-depth analysis of variances.

  • Coordinates the preparation of the quarterly forecasting for the Americas Region. Prepares in-depth analysis of variances.

  • Manage, develop, coach, and mentor a financial team that includes general accountants, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and others

  • Maintains the accuracy and reliability of the manufacturing cost system, reviewing and implementing changes in costing methods. Drives detailed analysis of product cost with a focus on cost containment and reduction.

  • Oversees the analysis of production variances and reports results to management for corrective or improved operations. Analyzes inventory variances, reconciles inventory, and oversees cycle counts. Develops and reviews plant manufacturing reports and analyze variances to standard costs.

  • Participates or delegates team members in cost reduction and lean initiatives.

  • Oversees the maintenance of the general ledger, all accounts, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and tax requirements.

  • Directs the maintenance of the manufacturing and inventory accounts of the general ledger ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax requirements.

  • Administers the maintenance of manufacturing standard cost for accurate product costing to support decision making.

  • Develops costs and supports product pricing development. Supports stage gate process.

  • Assists with the development of transfer pricing for the Americas Region to the non-US affiliates.

  • Directs the preparation of profitability analyses by product, customer, product line and market identifying changes in price, volume and mix. Identifies those products which are profitable or not for management action.

  • Oversees the preparation of the monthly profit center report.

  • Assists with system upgrades and enhancements.

  • Prepares ad hoc reports and assists with special projects as directed by the Global Controller or the Regional Managing Director.


  • MBA, CPA or equivalent preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience at a supervisory level and in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment when necessary.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Experience working in an ERP environment required. JDE experience preferred.

Ensure established procedures and batch formulations, are followed to ensure safe operation of the proper equipment required to convert raw materials and WIP into finished products to the highest quality standards. Ensure proper training of Chemical Operators and proper area housekeeping of department, so that operators can safely and efficiently operate equipment required to convert bulk material into finished products of the highest quality standards. Responsibilities: * Promote operational safety - Understand, follow and teach safe handling procedures for all chemicals. * Assure that the Daily Work Plan is executed * Proactively monitors data ensure proper staffing to meet demand * Ensures the highest standard of Quality and is an active participant in Quality Improvement Projects. * Know and apply all applicable environmental rules and practices * Properly train Operators to follow Work Orders, Batch Sheets and Work Instructions. * Monitor start of shift, break, lunch, and ending of shift times as per company standards, approval payroll and vacations. * Drive lean manufacturing participation and process improvement * Implements productivity tracking and improvements. * Methods improvement – ensure that products are produced in most efficient manner (safety first, highest quality, standard work, least cost) and Process improvements – identifies and implements new processes, tolls, fixtures and workstations. * Work with Lead Operators, Quality Assurance Managers and Senior Production Manager to resolve problems and work on continuous improvement. * Follow up and make corrective action on customer complaints and concerns. * Utilize the E1 ERP Computer System to its full potential. * Provides ongoing performance management, develops, coaches, and training for subordinates; plans daily activities for efficient use of time. * Facilitates and coaches' employees through the certified operator process * Responsible for the management of the department cycle counting program and maintaining inventory accuracy. * Responsible for partnering with Sales and Operations Planning to execute the daily production schedule, produce and manage raw material and finished goods inventory, and make recommendations on how to optimize the utilization of the equipment department. * Works within the boundaries of ISO procedures. * Initiates group meetings with subordinates (bi-weekly as a minimum). * 5-S implementation and maintenance.
