The Senior Manager, Finance Business Partner oversees the accounting and analysis related to Brother International Corporation's ("Brother") various business segments and functions. This includes monthly monitoring of expenses and gross profit components; identification and calculation of month-end accruals; preparation and recording of journal entries; review of staff's journal entries; review and preparation of monthly and quarterly account analysis; participate in internal, external and SOX audits. This role is responsible for budgeting and forecasting for assigned business areas, as well as investigation of variances to forecast and budget for those same business areas. This role interacts with business unit personnel to provide accounting guidance and direction and ad hoc projects as warranted; as well as supervise and oversee the training requirements of staff.

  • WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Business Partner

  • Work closely with and influence assigned business unit management to help drive business performance - helping to ensure high quality financial decisions are made in business unit.

  • Share different perspectives and best practices to help deliver measurable improvements in the approach to business decision making, value for money return and risk management.

  • Provide objective financial advice and opinions that positively impact assigned business unit.

  • Identify and drive financial efficiency with business unit management.

  • Provide objective challenge regarding spend plans and take a proactive role in looking for opportunities to deliver services more efficiently and effectively.

  • Investigate opportunities as well as high-risk and material financial issues or problem areas with the business.

  • Develop and propose solutions and options to resolve/progress concerns.

  • Support the business unit in assuming greater degrees of financial accountability by providing coaching and training to improve the financial confidence and competence across the organization.

  • Provide forward looking insight and challenge, adding value through delivering business and commercial insights - acting as a catalyst for business change.

  • Work proactively with key business partners and stakeholders to develop successful partnering relationships.

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team to promote and share business partnering ideas, learnings, experiences and best practices.

  • Develop effective relationships with Finance staff.

Accounting

  • Manage monthly close process, reviewing journal entries, reconciliations and account analyses

  • Support Director of Accounting with accurate and timely preparation, maintenance and delivery of accounting records and financial statements.

  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and/or IFRS and keep current with changes in Accounting guidance and its effect on Brother.

  • Analyze accounting operations to identify and drive efficiencies and process improvements; ensure documentation of all accounting processes and procedures.

  • Supervise and develop assigned staff, ensuring proper allocation of work; support staff in their achievement of personal and department goals and meeting of deadlines.

  • Assist with analysis of budgets and forecasts by providing information related to actual expenditures.

  • Support internal, external and SOX audits, by working with the audit teams and providing information and analyses as needed.

  • Supervise third-party vendor providing Hyperion administrative services.

  • ABOUT OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Accounting or Finance.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years

  • Experience working within the (Big 4 Public Accounting Firms) and private experience.

  • Experience in, change management/transformation.

  • Varied finance experience across multiple finance disciplines i.e. Accounting, Reporting, Taxation, Capital Management, Change Management.

  • Experience Business partnering experience essential with a proven track record of negotiation and influencing.

  • Experience, budgeting, planning, forecasting and management reporting experience required.

  • Experience leading and coaching teams.

Licenses & Certifications

  • CPA - Certified Public Accountant (Preferred)

Software/Technical Skills

  • SAP S4 Hana & SAC FPA experience (Preferred)

Other Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Time management skills; ability to work within tight deadlines.

  • Excellent financial analysis skills, modelling skills and strong business acumen.

  • Leadership capabilities with proven people management skills.

  • This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers. #LI-Hybrid

  • The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $142,000 - $157,000 per year.

  • Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data.

  • This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives.
