Senior Manager, External Engagement (Hybrid)

GEICO is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with a diverse experience and skills necessary to manage a network of outside law firm and vendor relationships as well as the indirect procurement of legal services spend for the department. We are looking for an experienced individual who will work closely with the Head of Legal Operations to manage external firm and vendor relationships, work with cross-functional partners in supplier management and finance, manage the billing and forecasting, and propose innovative opportunities to manage relationships and spend.

Essential Functions:

• Work collaboratively with senior leadership and contribute meaningfully to strategic planning relating to external engagements.

• Identify innovative opportunities, present plans and build support for improvement in law department processes.

• Build a relationship program to enhance strategic partnerships with key law firms and other legal vendors.

• Display strong leadership, teamwork, communication and analytical skills.

• Navigate and resolve diverse and complex issues in imaginative and effective ways.

• Find and pursue cost reduction opportunities by challenging current structure, cost models, business processes, etc.

• Work side-by-side with the Head of Legal Operations to lead cost reduction efforts and process improvements.

• Knowledge of the latest industry trends and evolving market forces governing legal and expert firm rates and billing trends.

• Have strong ability with technology and tools to implement process improvements to e-billing and matter management.

Basic Qualifications:

• Well organized with good verbal and written communication skills

• 4-year degree required

• JD or MBA preferred

• Minimum 5 years experience in legal operations or vendor management

• Preferred Corporate legal department or law firm experience

Location - Hybrid: This individual will be required to work onsite 3-4 days per week out of our Chevy Chase, MD or New York, NY office.

Annual Salary

$148,000.00 - $230,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
