The National Accounting and Assurance (NAA) community is an overarching identity for a number of teams, including Accounting and Corporate reporting, the Quality Corporate Reporting Centre of Excellence (QCR), Audit & Assurance Excellence, Audit Quality & Risk Management, Inspections, Risk and Regulation, Regulatory Compliance and Learning, EQCR & PSR and client service technology team. In NAA we are dedicated to supporting audit teams in delivering excellent service and maintaining audit quality.

We are based in London and Cardiff but serve the whole firm nationally. The team is made up of a mixture of permanent staff and secondees from the audit service line.

Whilst we are an office of Deloitte UK, we work particularly closely with the Guernsey, IOM and Gibraltar offices as an Islands Practice, with a team of 200 people and 8 partners focusing on the offshore financial services sector.

As a key member of our senior team, reporting to a Director/Partner, you will have responsibility for:

  • Facilitating the completion of high quality audit field work in accordance with ISAs

  • Effective management of audit process with appropriate accounting technical matters

  • Ensuring completion of audits/projects within agreed timescales

  • Budgeting time allocation to assignments and explaining variances from budget

  • Drafting final documents for review by partner

  • Reviewing accounts in accordance with UK GAAP/IFRS

  • Development and coaching of junior members of staff#

  • Active involvement in business development and tendering for new clients

  • Managing client relationships

  • Involvement in wider office practice management roles

  • Representing Deloitte in the marketplace through presenting at seminars and other networking events

  • Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • Relevant professional qualification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAS or equivalent

  • Experience in the financial services sector, either as an external auditor, working within a financial services institution, in an advisory or business consulting capacity to similar organisations, or in the regulation of such institutions

  • Experience in financial services accounting under IFRS and UK GAAP or equivalent

  • Knowledge of external or internal auditing techniques (including risk assessment, audit scoping, devising audit approach, controls testing, substantive testing)

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including oral/written communication, and team management

  • Experience in developing project deliverables (proposals, reports, presentations) to a high standard

  • Highly motivated approach, with a proven ability to work on own initiative within a challenging work environment

  • Good team playing skills with good organisation, planning and coaching skills

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
