SUMMARY: The Sr. Manager, Engineering is responsible for supporting the stand up of a Manufacturing organization at VSE aviation for a major new engine accessories program and will be directly responsible for standing up and developing an effective engineering team. This leader will develop the engineering strategy and execution roadmap for this new manufacturing business, which includes the development and management of a technical product engineering team and the organizational structure. This includes close integration and coordination with internal and external partners to oversee the full stand-up plan from 3rd party certifications and OEM approvals, through the full project development, and ultimately execution and stand up of the organization. This leader will also be responsible for all the CMM documents and technical development with OEM partners.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership to the engineering team on deliverables, projects and daily activities.

  • Acts as key engineering leadership focal with Engine OEMs and Airframe manufacturers and coordinates team activities in support of product line requirements.

  • Engages with customers on all technical issues associated with the product.

  • Design strategies for future development projects based on the company's overall objectives and resources.

  • Oversees the development of new manufacturing capabilities in accordance with OEM technical data and FAA regulatory requirements.

  • Responsible for all the CMM documents and technical development with OEM partners.

  • Responsible for achieving necessary federal and OEM certifications in support of standing up a new manufacturing business. (Part 21 Approval, OEM Delegated approvals, other pertinent certifications)

  • Ensures the execution and completion of development projects within budget and on-time.

  • Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and customer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.

  • Ensure internal procedures and processes are maintained and compliant to customer, industry, and statutory and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure the development of capabilities that meet the OEM technical data in compliance with aviation authority regulations.

  • Establishes process and reliability improvements based on quality audit reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Ensures an effective internal audit programs are established and maintained.

  • Communicating the goals of the company to all engineers and professionals in the team.

  • Manages engineering team's performance, timekeeping, and other employee-related issues.

  • Oversees engineering projects to ensure they are technically sound and in compliance with all internal and external regulatory standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field

  • 8 years of relevant/technical work experience and 5-8 years of leadership experience.

  • OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.

  • Proven Engineering leadership experience in a Manufacturing business.

  • Experience developing and maintaining a Quality Management System registered compliant to ISO 9000, latest revision.

  • Experience obtaining and maintaining FAA, EASA, CAAC and other relevant Air Agency and manufacturing Certificates.

  • Working knowledge of LEAN/Six Sigma

  • Excellent Leadership skills, big picture mentality, and Business acumen. Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven expertise and ability to influence and maneuver at a high level across the organization and make cross functional based decisions for the business.

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Deep experience in problem solving and influencing.

  • Self-starter with unquestionable integrity.

  • Demonstrated proficiency managing analytically rigorous initiatives.

  • Strong IT fluency

  • Ability to both lead and work collaboratively in teams and support all levels of a public organization.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Management and Analytics Software.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters degree

  • 11+ years of relevant/technical work experience, with experience in Engineering

  • 9+ years in a supervisory role

  • Aviation Industry Manufacturing experience
