As the leader of a passionate and accomplished team, you will be responsible for the continued growth, including recruitment and hiring, performance reviews, program assignment, and career development. You will be heavily involved in supporting program planning and execution, defining technical direction and standards, and driving the strategic growth in design, development and test of propulsion valves, fluid system components, and other mechanical systems for a variety of liquid rocket engines. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsible for complete employee lifecycle, including hiring, performance management, task/project assignment, training and career development.
Responsible for technical processes, best practices, and tool development for valves and mechanisms, including process tailoring and risk assessments for program needs
Drive the initiation and development of close working relationships with multiple programs and ensure proper planning and support
Assure compliance with company and business unit plans, processes and procedures
Responsible for being a non-advocate, Subject Matter Expert (SME) for programs during reviews and anomaly investigations
Support larger Engines Design Office initiatives to continue supporting Blue Origin growth
Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and 10+ years of mechanical design experience in a fluids-related domain
Demonstrated ability to lead teams
Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of components such as regulators, check valves, pneumatic/EMA/hydraulic valves, actuators and other fluid system components
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Experience with anomaly investigations
Knowledge of systems engineering and configuration management practices
Experience in project planning and successful execution of projects to cost and schedule targets
Working knowledge of instrumentation including pressure transducers, thermocouples and accelerometers
Working knowledge of a variety of rocket propellants including cryogenic propellants
