This colleague will have dual responsibility for management of business operational aspects of PhRD as well as serving the broader goals of the group in regards to the design and implementation of digital solutions in product and process design, manufacture and group operations.

The colleague will be responsible for providing planning, evaluation and guidance for management of the PhRD organization's budget and workload assignments (i.e. capacity). The colleague will be responsible for the development of accurate budget forecasts, monitoring financial commitments and when required interface with the BTx PharmSci Operations and Portfolio Management Groups. This colleague, along with others in the organization, will be responsible for proposing and implementing solutions that will increase the operational efficiency of the PhRD organization.

PhRD seeks to understand and apply digital solutions that increase our ability to gain access to and utilize large datasets from manufacturing, product development and performance, ongoing operations and product design in order to optimize our business processes as well as design digitally enabled, patient focused products. The colleague will work closely with experts in PhRD, BT and PharmSci Ops to support these initiatives from an operations and technology perspective.

The qualified candidate will maintain and improve the business operational systems of the PhRD organization with a specific focus on budgets, workload management, and operational efficiency. In addition, they will seek to encourage and enable the development and implementation of digital solutions in all aspects of PhRD process and product development.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the evaluation, development and implementation of digital business solutions in support of product and process development; interface with BT/IT and BTx PharmSci Operations Groups as well as strategic partners to create integrated approaches to data analysis and utilization

  • In coordination with other PhRD personnel, overseeing the financial planning and management of the PhRD organizational budgets (Capital, Travel, etc) and forecasts

  • Development and implementation of approaches that will remove some of the business burden from PhRD leads/scientists/LT members; overseeing the PhRD project forecast (FTE's and $) in concert with the Portfolio Management Team and, when required, monitor and modify the existing templates

  • Increasing the organization's efficiency by helping to improve the operational systems, processes and or policies; specifically, help to identify and implement systems and business processes in support of information flow and organizational planning

  • Support operations and facilities utilization across our three sites.


BS/MS in scientific or engineering field

  • 10+ years of related experience in product development and operations. Demonstrated the ability to lead teams; ideally has participated and or lead multifunctional teams. Understands the business drivers as well as the culture of a development and manufacturing organization such that initiatives geared toward operational excellence can be developed and implemented. Experience in the development of modeling programs as well as programs associated with business options analyses. Should be comfortable in a team environment and should seek to partner with and serve the needs of the broader organization and the patients whom we serve. In order to accomplish the above activities the colleague needs to be fully committed to the role and has demonstrated the ability to get things done. Further, the colleague should be prepared to engage and travel within our group, across multiple sites, as well as with strategic partners within Pfizer.


MBA or equivalent business training/experience. Project management experience; demonstrated leadership of technical teams from a financial and budgetary perspective. Should have demonstrated BT systems knowledge.

Excellent organizational, communication (oral and written), time management, project planning skills are essential in order to effectively work with multiple project and technology teams simultaneously in a highly matrixed environment. Demonstrated data harnessing and visualization skills.
