Catalight Foundation, the development and fundraising arm of Catalight, is looking for a mission-driven, creative, and entrepreneurial Senior Manager, Development to support the Senior Director, Development and the fundraising team in achieving the donor growth and retention goals of the foundation. This position requires a combination of administrative, research, communication, and organizational skills to effectively assist in cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations and institutions. The Senior Manager, Development contributes to furthering Catalight's strategic priorities and purpose by generating both unrestricted and restricted revenue support for the overall organization and is responsible for donor discovery, and recommending, implementing, and coordinating donor relations and stewardship to promote interaction with and recognition of donors and corporations giving high-end annual gifts. More specifically, the Senior Manager, Development is responsible for donor identification, initial qualification and building the pipeline of prospects in partnership with the Senior Director, Development and works closely with the full development team to create unique engagement and stewardship opportunities and communication that demonstrates the value and impact of philanthropic investment, increases revenue and drives philanthropy results.

Core Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions

  • Identify, research, analyze, rank and prioritize information on all prospective donors to inform development strategies and advance potential donor relationships.

  • Respond to research requests in a timely manner, using manual research methods and online donor databases, qualifies, screens, and rates potential donors, and proactively identifies new prospective corporate, major and institutional gift donors.

  • Conduct research on prospective donors to gather relevant information such as philanthropic interests, giving capacity, and connections to the organization.

  • Assist in the preparation of materials for donor meetings, including agendas, presentations, and briefing documents.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of donor cultivation events, including logistics, guest lists, invitations, and follow-up communications.

  • Attend events as needed to provide support and facilitate donor engagement.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the donor database, tracking interactions and important data points.

  • Draft personalized communications, including thank-you letters, emails, and updates, to cultivate and steward relationships with donors.

  • Coordinate with the donor relations and engagement team to ensure donors receive appropriate recognition and communication about the impact of their gifts.

  • Collaborate with the development operations manager to ensure timely and accurate processing of major gifts, including gift entry, acknowledgment letters, and tax receipts.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments, including development, marketing and communications, and finance, to support overall fundraising goals and organizational objectives.

  • Participate in team meetings, providing updates on donor activity and contributing ideas for donor engagement strategies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Experience & Training Equivalent to:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, with an emphasis in marketing or communications, or related field as it relates to fundraising in nonprofit sector preferred; or 7+ years of equivalent work history, required.

  • Proven experience in non-profit fundraising, development, or a related field.

  • Self-starter, self-motivated and strategic problem solver.

  • Familiarity with donor databases and fundraising principles.

  • Experience in the field of intellectual developmental disability including autism preferred; passion for the organization's purpose and commitment to social impact, required.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Sensitivity to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
  • A commitment to the values of the organization while demonstrating good judgment, flexibility, patience

and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.), CRM and donor management software to manage data to analyze and generate reports and create engaging impact reports, proposals and donor communications.

  • Highly self-motivated, accountable, and results oriented.

  • Consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.

  • Work in an exciting, fast-paced high-energy environment while effectively multitasking and managing day-to-day responsibilities without supervision.

  • Personable; able to work comfortably with individuals at all levels within the organization.

  • Propensity for innovation and the pursuit of improvement.

  • Exceptional verbal, presentation, and writing communication skills and understanding of marketing related to customized written communications with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficiency in professional and creative writing with an understanding of marketing related to customized proposals and donor-centric communications.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Must be highly detail-oriented and have excellent follow-up skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Aptness to work as a collaborative team member as well as independently to manage several projects simultaneously through completion, able to adjust to shifting priorities and feedback.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively within the work environment, read and write using the primary language with the workplace.

  • Visual and auditory ability to work with donors, clients, staff, and others in the workplace continuously.

  • Frequent speaking and listening (25-75%) to donors, clients, staff, and others in the workplace.

  • Use a computer and cell phone for effective communication.

  • Works a flexible schedule as necessary, including additional weekend or evening hours for special events or deadlines.

  • Ability to work in multiple time zones.

  • Travel throughout the United States, 20-25%.

Conditions of Employment

  • Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ). The People & Performance Department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as fitness for the position.

  • Able to travel to multiple work sites, events and donor meetings. Reliable transportation needed.

  • Must attend any required training.

Time Type:

Full time

Compensation:

$123,500 - $140,000
