Summary of This Role

Manages activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Monitors and enhances the security and performance of the database operating environment.

Oversees the development and implementation of enterprise databases operating within a high availability infrastructure/environment. Researches, evaluates and recommends database performance and analysis tools. Assigns team members to various projects and directs their activities.

Reviews and evaluates work and prepares performance reports. Advises and confers with team members on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods. Projects long-range requirements for database administration in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function as well as business function managers.

Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the database management section. Provides ultimate escalation support for issues presented by the user and client base regarding database issues.

What Part Will You Play?

  • Provides tactical direction and supports the development of strategic direction for highly complex globally dispersed multi-data center infrastructure.

    Leads the direction of emerging technologies, proactive software maintenance, environmental analysis and process improvements to ensure availability, recoverability and performance within the data center. Explores ideas to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Manages the infrastructure change management procedures for a global mainframe environment. Validates that the change is consistently and successfully executed without interruptions of service.

    Manages the continual improvement of the change process as technology and applications evolve. Leads teams and makes decisions to guide the issue resolution process and correct production issues that impact the global mainframe infrastructure.

  • Leads staff involved with providing recommendations to executive leadership on technology related topics. Coordinates with internal business partners and clients to understand business needs and provide a world class infrastructure.

    Leads the technical engagements with current and prospective clients to provide successful integration of services. Develops team members to effectively engage clients to provide industry best technical solutions and consulting.

  • Participates in the definition of technology vision and strategy and provides guidance on architecture roadmap for platforms and systems. Monitors industry and technology trends, understands customer business objectives, and maps technology solutions that competitively meet the market needs.

    Assists with the communication of the technology vision and strategy to key stakeholders including executives, clients and partners. Maintains awareness of competitive approaches to technology and operational best practices.

  • Leads Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance efforts for enterprise applications. Validates systems are managed to regulatory, compliance and audit standards set forth by the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No.16, Service Organization Controls Report (SOC1), Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), PCI, client contracts, and other relevant standards.

    Leads the implementation of security standards to protect customer data against unauthorized access. Provides oversight of remediation and drives efforts to create enterprise application security standards.

    Leads client facing and regulatory audits for Oracle.

    Develops processes and procedures to align with corporate and regulatory requirements and ensure adherence to those policies. Presents weekly updates to executive PCI sponsors, coordinates remediation of PCI findings and advises on potential gaps in security and compliance.

  • Leads staff in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity solutions to support critical business service. Leads the evaluation of new technology to decrease recovery times and simplify recovery solutions.

    Leads the development of recovery procedures and team member training to ensure successful recovery of the production environments within contractual time frames. Evaluates readiness and determines the success of recovery efforts during recovery exercises. Leads the team's database maintenance procedures for backups and archives involved in performance testing and disaster recovery.

    Leads and coordinates responses to major incidents. Manages service provision for incidents and requests for service and manages the capacity of the systems. Defines, establishes and maintains current secure coding best practices and secures coding checklist based on latest threats and defensive coding techniques. Conducts secure code reviews and provides security sign-off on releases.

  • Leads vendor management functions for major software providers. Participates in vendor sponsored events which focus on future products and services, industry trends, vendor strategic direction and similar topics. Meets regularly with internal staff to keep apprised of strategic direction and meeting business objectives which can be supported by current and future vendor relationships.

  • Collaborates with leaders in other functional areas to define and implement processes and improvements to methodologies. Participates in the definition and implementation of segment wide standards and procedures relative to the system lifecycle. Leads all governance related practices and procedures for the team and platform within the department.

What Are We Looking For in This Role?

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Relevant Experience or Degree in: related field of study from an accredited university is required; however, relevant experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.

  • Typically a minimum of 8 years

  • related professional experience including a minimum of 3-4 years experience in a supervisory position.
