Reporting to the Director of Accounting and Reporting, the Senior Manager of Accounting will be responsible for providing oversight and guidance to staff on corporate and intercompany accounting activities for the International Operations (IO) segment of GMF, reviewing and providing guidance on financial statement preparation and analysis, as well as leading process improvement and other special projects related to IO segment accounting requirements.


  • Provide guidance and support to staff on the team

  • Review/post certain month-end journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Review intercompany reporting and settlement processing

  • Review, provide guidance, and analyze monthly Statement of Cash Flows

  • Analytically review monthly financial statements and assist with variance explanations

  • Review and provide feedback to staff on financial information for certain SEC footnote disclosures in support of GM & GM Financial 10-Q/10-K reporting process

  • Review current accounting processes and proactively identify and lead improvement initiatives where applicable

  • Liaise with both internal and external auditors, to answer questions and provide supporting documentation

  • Coordinate with other functional areas/teams, such as Corporate Tax, Financial Planning, Management Reporting, Treasury, etc.

  • Liaise with controllers and other accounting groups in various countries as it relates to month end close or other reporting deliverables

  • Support global financial systems, new products, and new market entry initiatives with respect to accounting and reporting requirements

  • Ability to select, hire, train and coach staff-level employees

  • Ability to plan and organize team workload to achieve desired priorities and objectives


Professional Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting CPA/Equivalent required

  • MSA/MBA preferred, not required

  • 5+ years progressively responsible accounting experience preferred

  • Demonstrated technical and professional accounting skills (preferable Big 4 public accounting experience)

  • Financial Services industry experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and SEC reporting processes

  • Capacity to anticipate and develop new processes while directing others to assist

  • Ability to provide guidance and feedback to staff-level team members

  • Advanced knowledge of computer skills including MS Office applications, Oracle, Cognos, Hyperion Essbase

  • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities

  • High level of written and oral communication skills, including communicating with executive-level leadership

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with other team members, including other countries

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The Engagement Accounting Analyst – Corporate Services position is a full-time role located in Southfield, Michigan and reports to the Engagement Accounting Manager – Corporate Services. Relocation assistance may be available for this position. Key Responsibilities: * Monitor work in process on engagements and work effectively with engagement teams to prepare and issue client invoices in a timely manner according to the client contract invoicing terms. * <li>Stay apprised of client contracts, including addendums and extensions, and their impact on client invoicing and working capital management. * Perform time and expense fee adjustments, write-offs, transfers, and/or application of advances and retainers in accordance with established engagement team review and approval procedures. * Proactively communicate issues and concerns around accounts receivable and work in process to management team and engagement teams to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and cash collection. * Exercise judgment in responding to unique and urgent situations; including time sensitive, nonstandard, and/or complex matters. * Demonstrate positive people attributes. Be a supportive team member and contribute to a cohesive team environment. * Communicate proactively with colleagues and contribute towards advancement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire order to cash value stream; including client engagement and contract review, invoicing, revenue recognition, and cash application. * Assist in executing improvements to working capital management processes and adopt enhancements to tools and methods. * Additional responsibilities as identified. Qualifications/Requirements: * A bachelor's degree in accounting/finance/business or related field strongly preferred. * Relevant accounting/finance experience preferred, ideally in a consulting or similar professional services firm. * Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; able to learn new systems and tools. * High-energy, flexible and responsive work style; ability to perform well under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines with poise and professionalism. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Excellent team skills and customer service attitude. * Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail. * Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. * Ability to maintain confidential information. * Proactive approach to problem solving. * Ability to work full time in a fast-paced office environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the work day.
