The Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting & Consolidations oversees the monthly close and consolidation process for DSW Inc. This individual will be required to challenge and develop staff through stretch goals and objectives, projects, initiatives, and interaction with key stakeholders. Oversees and manages day-to-day operations and month-end, quarter-end, year-end close responsibilities. Supports other responsibilities assigned as needed for financial close and reporting. Develop new methods or procedures to improve close procedures and daily operations. This position reports to the Director, Accounting Operations and will have direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely monthly consolidation of DSW Inc. and its related entities. Including, the alignment of the chart of accounts across multiple entities, revaluation and translation of functional currency to USD, and the appropriate elimination of intercompany activity.

  • Enhance the existing corporate consolidation process, including evaluating systems, developing methods for intercompany eliminations, and implementing SOX controls.

  • Demonstrate high level of systems knowledge with an ability to understand information from multiple systems and will possess the analytical skills to match data between systems

  • Must have an in-depth understanding of accounting principles related to the elimination of intercompany transactions and foreign currency matters

  • Understands, reviews, and approves balance sheet reconciliations

  • Supports other responsibilities assigned as needed for financial close and reporting

  • Ability to execute change management within the function, across the business, and with external partners focusing on system enhancements, process efficiencies and the appropriate alignment of roles and responsibilities across the enterprise.

  • Required to present management recommendations based on analytical data to key stakeholders throughout the business

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Present excellent leadership, communication, organization, and analytical skills

  • Ability to research and summarize technical accounting topics

  • Ability to drive, both internal and external business partners, to solutions on operational and project based issues

  • Ability to interact and drive change across multiple areas, as well as, multi-task several projects and initiatives in a changing environment

  • Ability to identify inefficiencies, recommend, and implement solutions to improve operations

  • Able to analyze business trends and KPIs to improve operational efficiencies

  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as work independently

  • Ability to work under moderate supervision to determine and develop approaches and solutions to complex problems

  • Detail-oriented

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in accounting with relevant experience in multi-entity consolidations and foreign currency.
  • 2+ years of experience in a managerial capacity

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting; MBA a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred

  • Retail and public accounting experience a plus

The Senior Financial Analyst, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, is primarily responsible for facilitating the annual Budget and Long Range Planning processes, supporting the quarterly earnings guidance process, planning and post auditing business projects, coordinating the weekly DSW Inc. P&L projection process, and workforce planning. Reports to the Manager, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis. Key Responsibilities: * Support annual Budget, Long Range Planning, and weekly Projection processes * Prepare and maintain detailed financial models * Communicate timelines as needed * Gain alignment on weekly projection changes and ensure timely and accurate upload of information within Hyperion Planning * Business Project Planning: * Serve as a finance resource to business partners in the development of business cases to support key projects. * Maintain the financial model utilized to measure the costs and benefits of key business projects * Provide financial support and analysis to key business leaders on an ad-hoc basis * Partner with the HR department to project and budget existing and open headcount for all corporate home office employees, including salaries, 401K, payroll taxes and bonus. * Act as an analytical resource/partner to all departments for matters related to headcount and payroll. * Prepare quarterly earnings support materials for key stakeholders * Perform various administrative duties within Hyperion Planning as the backup Administrator Qualifications: * Lives the DSW Values of passion, accountability, collaboration, and humility * Superior Excel and financial modeling skills. Proficient in PowerPoint and Word. * Minimum of 3-5 years' work experience in a fast paced environment (retail experience preferred). Superior analytical and quantitative skills. * Ability to communicate and influence others by translating complex data into easily-understood ideas and recommendations. * Takes initiative and is curious, driven, flexible/adaptable. Detail oriented. * Manages multiple projects simultaneously and collaborates cross functionally * Conducts responsibilities with urgency and a high level of accountability * Project and workload management skills * Prior experience with Hyperion Planning is valued but not required * Prior experience with the retail method of accounting is valued but not required * Undergraduate (B.S./B.A.) degree in Finance or Accounting is required, MBA is valued but not required DSW Shoes Columbus OH
