Agios has two approved oncology precision medicines and multiple first-in-class investigational therapies in clinical and/or preclinical development.

Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Senior Manager, Contracts to join our growing legal team. The Senior Manager, Contracts will provide comprehensive legal support for various functions at Agios, including our Clinical and Technical Operations departments. The position will work as a member of the Agios Legal function, reporting to the Director, Corporate Counsel, Transactional Law. This is an exciting opportunity to work across functions and teams as a trusted partner to proactively facilitate the efficient negotiation, execution and tracking of contracts. The contracts manager will work closely with the Director day-to-day with an opportunity to be involved in various corporate transactions impacting functional groups across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between internal business partners, legal department, external vendors and outside counsel as necessary for contract drafting, negotiations, processes and inquiries.

  • Draft and negotiate a high volume of contracts and other internal business partners, including clinical trial agreements, master services agreements, consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, manufacturing agreements research agreements and other business agreements.

  • Strong focus on client service, professionalism, confidentiality, superior organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Master and seek to continue to improve the internal contracting process, including administering a contracts management system and developing internal training materials related to the contracting process.

  • Work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external vendors on contract maintenance, renewals and terminations.

  • Provide education and training to internal clients.

  • Active participation on Legal function projects.

  • Perform special assignments or projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the life sciences industry drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts.

  • Prior in-house experience as a member of a legal department in a biotechnology or pharmaceuticals company or in a law firm. JD not required, but candidates with JD would be considered.

  • Significant experience in drafting and negotiating a high volume of life sciences contracts with a particular emphasis on clinical, research and services contracts.

  • Experience with clinical trial agreements, GCP guidelines and regulatory requirements for global clinical trials is preferred. Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proven ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from multiple departments at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent professionalism and interpersonal skills with sound judgment and commitment to ethical conduct.

  • Ability and track record of successfully working in cross-functional teams to progress projects

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, problem-solve and operate in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Strong client service orientation and business acumen.
