Ascendis Pharma is looking to hire an experienced Senior Manager, Commercial Training & Development to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing, innovative company!

Position Summary

The Sr Manager of Commercial Training & Development will assist in the development and execution of a formalized training curriculum in advance of our 3 upcoming launches in rare endocrine disorders.

This role will be tasked with partnering with the Director of Commercial Training and Development and collaborate with other Commercial leaders on the identification, development and delivery of disease, product and skill-based training programs across the entire Commercial organization. Sr Manager will also partner with Human Resources, and other internal Ascendis stakeholders to ensure the implementation of resources and programs enhance customer engagement, improve knowledge and skills for field-based representation in alignment with the policies and direction of the organization.

The individual will also play a key role working in collaboration with Sales, Marketing & Market Access leadership in the development, project management and execution of National Field Meetings and Plan of Action Meetings to ensure consistency of training methodology and processes. Additionally, the Sr Manager of Commercial Training & Development will help create and deliver advanced professional development resources and emerging manager programs in partnership with Human Resources and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of the learning strategy of the Commercial organization, building the skills necessary to execute on our objectives for the Endocrinology Rare Disease portfolio. The training will initially focus heavily on pre-launch and launch programs
  • Proactively uncover and assess gaps in the knowledge and skills of the Commercial organization, and work with the Commercial team and other departments to address them
  • Offer solutions for bridging gaps between current organizational capabilities and needs
  • Partner with departments, subject matter experts and key stakeholders to identify training needs, improve training solutions and lead change initiative implementation
  • Monitor and maintain alignment with Commercial groups strategic training plan while balancing short-term and long-term business goals
  • Support the identification, design, development, approval and implementation of modules and materials, as well as the technology tools (LMS) required for implementation
  • Collaborate the Director of Commercial training and development and internal customers including Compliance/Legal and Marketing to ensure training deliverables are current, effective, and compliant with regulatory guidelines
  • Work cross functionally to ensure training resources are accurate, aligned and compliant by actively engaging in the LMRC approval process
  • Lead and assist in the development and execution of training on product knowledge, promotional campaigns, communication skills, new hire training, commercial workshops & other ad hoc needs
  • Collaborate with and support relevant internal departments including Field Leadership and Sales Teams, Market Access, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Patient Support, Compliance and HR to develop appropriate training
  • Effectively prepare for instruction by conducting needs assessments, identifying targeted participant characteristics, and soliciting cross-functional feedback before finalizing design and strategy
  • Analyze the characteristics of existing technologies and their use in instructional design
  • Assist in the design of curricula, or training programs, using adult learning principles

Requirements

  • 6+ years of Biotech/Pharma commercial training experience in the biotech industry; Prior Biotech/Pharma Field Sales experience, a plus
  • BS or BA degree required
  • Highly self-motivated and self-managed; ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to organize and work under strict time and production deadlines, while producing quality deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal communication, facilitation, problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and capability in the build and execution of a biotechnology product launch
  • Proficient organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at one time
  • Excellent collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working with people at all levels of the organization as well as with suppliers, vendors and customers to drive business results
  • Experience effectively managing a project from its initiation to delivery
  • Ability to effectively execute variety of training deliverable (i.e. f2f instructor led training (ILT), virtual ILT, self-guided resources)
  • Use performance metrics and analysis to improve and customize training
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and PowerPoint, particularly as used in the development of instructional content
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time domestically
