Covance is seeking candidates for a Senior Manager, Change Management. The Senior Manager, Change Management can be office based or home based in Princeton, NJ or Durham, NC.

The Senior Manger, Change Management will play a key role in ensuring projects (change initiatives) meet objectives on time and on budget by increasing employee adoption and usage. This person will focus on the people side of change including changes to business processes, systems and technology. The primary responsibility will be creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance. The Change Management Sr. Manger will work to drive faster adoption, higher ultimate utilization and greater proficiency of the changes that impact employees in the organization to increase benefit realization, value creation, ROI and the achievement of results and outcomes.

Apply a structured methodology and lead change management activities via a tiered service model:

  • Identify and clearly articulate proposed change (current state/future state, scope, nature and vision)

  • Engage, coach and support leadership at all levels to ensure active and visible sponsorship

  • Facilitate and analyze initial assessments (Project Sponsorship/Governance, Project Stakeholders, Change Impact, Change Risks) for strategy and planning

  • Build out Change Management Strategy and associated action plan to address Training, Communications, Stakeholder Mgmt, Risk Mitigation, Sponsorship and Support)

  • Implement and/or oversee all aspect of Change Management plan

  • Facilitate Change Metrics definition, targets, collection and analysis

  • Manage and monitor change adoption (assess, review, remediate cycle)

  • Build and maintain effective foundational partnerships (i.e. Learning & Development to ensure effective Training Strategy and training deliverables, HR/Business for organization/staffing, IT for Technology support)


  • Bachelor's Degree (required)

  • A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process; experience with Prosci ADKARModel is a plus

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools

  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal Exceptional facilitation skills

  • Ability to build assessments; analyze, report, and action on assessment data

  • Excellent active listening skills

  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships and foster collaboration

  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations

  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle

  • Change management certification or designation desired; Prosci Certification a plus


  • 5-10 years implementing Change Management for large scale, global transformational projects

  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and/or CRO industry strongly preferred

  • Experience with HTML publishing

  • 3-5 years building and maintaining SharePoint sites to facilitate project collaboration and communications

  • 3-5 years writing content for and producing/building communications vehicles (i.e. Sharepoint Sites, Newsletters, Websites, Videos, Executive Briefings, Managerial Talking points, Presentations, Brochures, etc.)

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities * Direct the coordination of change efforts across Procurement Organization, ensuring that a common vision is articulated, communicated and continually reinforced * Conduct change impact assessments and convert to actionable steps to prepare the organization for integration * Lead team to develop accompanying change management tools and resources * Enable leaders with best practices on how to drive change within their organizations and among themselves and their employees * Analyze changing skill sets, identify gaps and make recommendations to senior management on plan forward * Consult across the organization and work with GP leadership to develop strategic engagement plans that are most appropriately targeted to provide the greatest impact to the organization * Translate GP and enterprise initiatives and complex concepts into compelling and engaging communications across various media * Define and launch appropriate strategic engagement initiatives to support vision * Oversee and develop the GP organization's change management program in alignment with business priorities * Conduct large-scale change programs that maximize corporate, business, and functional priorities and objectives * Implement integrated organizational change management structures to minimize risk and encourage user adoption * Develop methodologies and tools that enable smooth and seamless organization transitions to better realize the benefits associated with strategic business programs * Develop content, key messages for Town Halls and other key meetings for engaging organization Internal and External Stakeholders: * All GP personnel * Business unit specific leadership teams * Members of industry councils and organizations Minimum Requirements: * B.S./B.A. * Minimum of 6-8 years of business experience * Minimum of 5-6 years of multi-disciplined procurement experience, or related category domain experience or relevant experience * Minimum of 1 year Pharmaceutical Procurement experience, or working directly with Pharmaceutical Procurement teams or relevant experience * Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams * Managerial experience including managing teams of senior professional and managers and establishing performance expectations * Internal stakeholder management, data/information management, category management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project management and performance measurement skills * Procurement process knowledge, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, strategic planning and integrated supply chain experience Preferred Qualifications: * M.S./M.B.A. * Professional certifications (e.g. CPM, CPIM). * 3 years Pharmaceutical Procurement experience * Membership in Professional Associations, e.g. ISM Bristol-Myers Squibb recognizes the importance of balance and flexibility in our work environment.
