What you will be doing

The Business Ventures team is a strategic function/entity reporting to the EVP and Chief Merchandising Officer. Business Ventures is a unique program that identifies and incubates select emerging health and wellness CPG brands/companies that provide our shoppers with innovative new products. The Senior Manager Business Ventures position will be responsible for the execution of one half of the brands of the ~20 Business Ventures portfolio. The position reports to the Director of Business Ventures.

This position can be located in any of the following locations: Pleasanton, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Plano, TX, Boise, ID.

Main responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing execution of the ~20 Business Ventures brands.

  • Lead onboarding activities for new Business Ventures brands.

  • Maintain regular, ongoing collaboration with partner companies; understanding priorities, communicating opportunities and respond quickly to issues and requests..

  • Maintain relationships with key Albertsons personnel in National Team, Divisions and Catalyst

  • Optimize portfolio company development through WAVE reset/Winning Model process

  • Leverage all internal data sources to assist partner companies in managing and developing business.

  • Understand and provide guidance and facts to partner companies on all aspects of driving trial, awareness and repeat purchase.

  • Prepare creative, compelling, fact-based programs and selling information.

  • In collaboration with Business Venture companies, track and evaluate pricing. Identify issues and support resolution activities.

  • Engage in activities to understand changing trends in food and beverage and identify prospects. Play a leadership role sharing that info with Business Ventures team and partner companies.

  • Play a key role in the Innovation Launchpad event at EXPO West coordinating contestants, finalists and resources at event location.

  • Maintain highly confidential company and Albertsons information and use discretion when discussing details with various internal and external constituents.

The salary range is $102,700 to $143,800 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Of, paid holidays (9days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401K eligibility). Associates in this position are also eligible for a quarterly bonus.

What we are searching for

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Marketing

  • 10+ years of related experience

  • 3 or more years' experience in category management, sales, merchandising or marketing preferably in a retail environment or with a CPG company

  • Has managed/supervised 1 or more employees

  • Innovative thinker

  • Problem solver

  • Strong data analysis skills (IRI/SpinsOMNI/Symphony/Numerator)

  • Expert knowledge of marketing principles (4 Ps)

  • Ability to create insights from data

  • Outstanding PowerPoint and Excel skills

  • Data visualization expertise

  • Excellent written and verbal communicator

  • Strong financial expertise with aptitude to drive sales and profit

  • Able to manage multiple priorities with ease

  • Outstanding analytical experiences

  • Comfortable working with senior executives both in and outside of company

  • Able to lead and influence without authority

  • Able to provide feedback and create development plans

  • Strong team player

  • Retail store experience a plus

  • Passion for Emerging Food and Beverage space

  • Able to juggle multiple brands, viewpoints and deadlines with ease

  • Travel: 15-20%
