Position Overview

Summary:
The Senior Manager, Business Information management in R&D Information Technology department serves as the key IT contact for R&D Device groups to oversee day to day support activities as well as engage in tactical and strategic IT planning for the devices they are developing. The person in this role will provide input and facilitate discussion of the direction and evolution of the technology landscape for the RD Device development, and work closely with IT Services groups and third party vendors to ensure that RD Devices groups are adequately supported, compliant to regulation and aligned within the IT landscape.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for day-to-day IT support.

  • Collaborates with key business users to plan and prioritize IT activities for RD Devices

  • Manages interactions with IT departments, including Infrastructure, Client Services and Information Security and others in accordance with IT support

  • Acts as key liaison between the Information Technology department and RD Devices department as well as outside vendors.

  • Acts as key player in merge and acquisition activity relating to RD Devices.

  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, state, federal and local laws.

  • Maximize the business value of global and local initiatives, ensuring effective alignment of IT investment with business requirements.

  • Prepares budget for support activities and applicable support/service contracts.

Required Knowledge and

Skills:
  • Strong experience and expertise in the maintenance and administration of computerized systems

  • Familiarity with life cycle management of medical device development

  • Understanding of compliance and regulatory standards related to medical device

  • Proven ability to research and adopt new technology

  • Proven ability to respond immediately to issue and to analyze and troubleshoot problems

  • Familiarity with IT project management methodology and experience as IT project manager.

  • Ability to effectively manage complex vendor relationships, contracts, and invoices.

  • Ability to handling multi-tasking, taking various assignments, and supporting business globally.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university, and minimum five years Information Technology experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Multiple IT technical certifications preferred.

Position Overview Full project management of company-wide technical communications including the writing and graphic design of technical user manuals, and other product and technical information. Main Areas of Responsibilities * Responsible for the design, writing, and delivery of print-ready user documentation including, but not limited to, User Manuals, Instructions for Use, Troubleshooting Guides, or Quick Start Guides. * Develops, documents, and validates in-house procedures for creating, updating, and translating user documentation. * Interfaces with Marketing, Regulatory, Clinical Affairs, Quality Assurance, Customer Support, and Product Development to clarify requirements and develop content. * Interfaces with Operation on printing and implementation of User Manuals, Instructions for Use, etc, according to regulatory requirements. * Determines scope of effort and identifies external resources required to complete concurrent documentation projects to support product release schedules. Identifies, contracts, and manages external technical writing and translation resources. * As needed, validates user instructions by observing customers in clinical settings and/or by testing with inexperienced users in mock-use scenarios. Identifies areas for clarification and improvement. * Develop and maintain English source manual or user's doc for, but not limited to, US market, EEA market and ROW markets. * Collaborate with appropriate country Allergan regulatory teams on the process of localization of User Manuals or other user's doc. Manages translations of all user documentation for international distribution as needed. * Work with Regulatory team, track, justify and maintain the gap, if any, between localized User Manuals or other user doc and English source counterpart. * Coordinates revisions, approvals, and ECO release of documents. * In addition to creating documents for customer use, may assist cross-functional teams in the creation of documentation for internal and external use. These may include product requirements documents, assembly instructions, and procedures, and customer letters * May assist in the preparation of other regulatory documents such as US submission for IDE, 510(k), CER. * Other technical writing tasks as assigned. * LI-ML Preferred Experience * Minimum of 5 years' work experience in management, coordination and production of technical publications activities, or equivalent. * Minimum of 3 years' experience managing localization in a regulated industry, or equivalent. * Minimum of 3 years' related experience in a medical device and/or pharmaceuticals manufacturing company, or equivalent. * Responsible for performing all duties in compliance with FDA's Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO13485, the Canadian Medical Device Regulations, and all other international regulations with which Allergan complies. * Strong demonstrated ability to effectively manage and coordinate multiple cross-functional input requirements to the publications development process. * Strong attention to detail. * Excellent verbal and written skills. * Strong technical writing skills. * Strong organizational skills including ability to plan effectively, and to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously. * Proficiency in software tools such as FrameMaker, Acrobat, Author-it, and Photoshop Elements. * Proficiency in MS Office, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
