I. Job Summary
This position is a member of the Transportation and Logistics Leadership Team and is responsible for supporting the development of enterprise specialty hauling transportation strategy and implementing that strategy within their geographic and business portfolio of responsibility.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Actively supports the Director, Transportation and Logistics' strategic direction and operational requirements across the assigned geography and lines of business.
Works across assigned geographies and business lines to develop synergistic opportunities and leverage capabilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
Strategically source and manage WM Municipal Solid Waste Haulers in assigned market areas.
Works closely with other Managers, Transportation and Logistics to optimize mutual opportunities across their respective geographies and lines of business with specialty hauling focus.
Works closely with geographic Area Supply Chain Managers sharing similar geographic responsibilities to leverage procurement expertise.
Works closely with Group, Area and Business operations management to ensure service level requirements are met and issues are promptly resolved.
Issues and manages transportation RFPs as necessary to support the business.
Anticipates supply and price risks and works to mitigate their becoming issues; resolves issues promptly to the benefit of all parties. Develop risk mitigation strategies.
Supports development, communication of business processes and change management strategies that support, enhance and improve overall operational performance; facilitates implementation of those processes within area of responsibility.
Use PowerBI toolset to analyze transportation data, supporting strategies and RFP initiatives.
High level support of transportation supplier freight invoicing activities in WM TMS.
Implements transportation and logistics solutions that create "win-win" partnerships with company businesses, transporters and end-use customers within area of responsibility.
Responsible for developing and implementing value propositions.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not directly manage employees.
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, and seven to ten years of previous experience in transportation and logistics with focus on specialty hauling transportation.
Preferred: MBA with ten plus years' experience in transportation and logistics. Supply chain management experience desirable.
Experience in freight bill payment systems and freight payment data highly desirable.

Experienced in providing logistical solutions to internal and external customers.
Possess environmental and sustainability experience.

Experienced in specialty hauling transportation management transportation segments.
Demonstrated ability to work internally to facilitate changes in systems and processes to support internal and external customers; has quickly evaluated a complex system and identified problems and solutions.
Ability to use software and information technology to more effectively better manage and grow the function.
Experienced in articulating the business and product strategies emphasizing the strategic importance of the various products, systems and services.
Demonstrated strong strategic thinking and ability to execute.
Demonstrated ability to partner and build relationships in diverse businesses.
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams to results.
Possess strong financial acumen and operational expertise.
