Our Organization and Mission:

The Division of Professions is responsible for the licensing of over 503,000 professionals. These professions include architects and interior designers, asbestos consultants, athlete agents, auctioneers, barbers, building code administrators and inspectors, community association managers, construction contractors, cosmetology, electrical contractors, employee leasing companies, geologists, home inspectors, landscape architects, mold assessors and remediators, pilot commissioners and veterinarians. Housed within the division is the Bureau of Education and Testing and the Florida Building Commission.

The Work You Will Do:

This is a highly responsible position that works independently and requires substantial administrative work experience and technical knowledge. The employee in this position serves as the division's Human Resources Liaison, Works Change Champion, Statewide Travel Management System (STMS)-User Management Client (UMC) User Administrator, and facilitator for special projects.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the Human Resources Liaison for the division. Provides guidance to management and division personnel in personnel matters, recruitment, selection, hiring, and time and attendance. Advises staff with regards to the documents required for submission to Human Resources. Completes paperwork required by Human Resources to perform the requested task (PAR forms, position descriptions, etc.) Tracks division personnel actions and transmits to Human Resources. Maintains current status by requesting updates from Human Resources staff as needed. Creates job advertisements by posting in People First.

  • Serves as the STMS-UMC User Administrator for the division. Responsible for updating the UMC with new hires, profiles, and separations within five days after receipt of information, ensuring that the UMC is always current.

  • Serves as the Works Change Champion for the division. Ensure that the division complies with all p-card procedures and that staff processes p-card receipts for payment within 10 days of receipt of required paperwork. Research issues and answers questions for board staff.

  • Serves as the facilitator for the Director and Deputy Director to ensure assigned projects are completed properly and deadlines are met.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.

  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

  • Knowledge of general Human Resources policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of Works and STMS/UMC functions and procedures.

  • Ability to work independently on recommendations and improvements to programs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or

  • Administrative or clerical experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Preferred:

  • Candidate with experience with human resources activities.

  • Candidate that can multitask and effectively manage time.
