Job Summary: The Senior Major Gift Officer (SGO) will be a strategic, creative and dynamic thinker who will thrive managing a high-capacity portfolio of major and principal gift prospects.
The SGO will be responsible for driving the overall performance of a portfolio of approximately 100 major and principal gift prospects.
The SGO will collaborate with the local philanthropy team, physicians, senior leaders and Bay-wide philanthropy leadership to identify, cultivate, steward and solicit donors and prospects with a focus on donor retention and acquisition. The SGO will also manage a portfolio of physician philanthropy partners with the goal of educating physician partners, including the Medical Director of Philanthropy, to engage and support philanthropy at Sutter Health.
The role is responsible for overseeing the local philanthropy committee and managing the committee membership to achieve philanthropic goals. The SGO is expected to achieve revenue and cost of funds goals through prudent budget management and active revenue-based strategies to fully engage the community in supporting the mission of Sutter Health.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; at least eight (8) years of direct experience in major gift/portfolio management; must be able and willing to travel as needed; must have a proven track record of developing and advancing significant private philanthropic support; in-depth knowledge of the local service area and its constituency, culture and philanthropic practices; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
