Job Description and Duties

SENIOR MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) - ANGELES DISTRICT / DISTRICTWIDE TRAILS CREW

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application.

Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).

The reporting location for this position is Malibu Creek State Park 1925 Las Virgenes Rd. Calabasas, CA 91302. This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor District Trails Coordinator.

The duties of the trails crew member are trail maintenance, construction, restoration, and rehabilitation. Work will include brushing trail corridors, trail tread repair, and installing and maintaining erosion controls including energy dissipation structures, rock walls, armored swales, and rock lined ditches.

The incumbent may assist in performing various types of facility and structural repairs such as: plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, and carpentry. The incumbent will perform routine maintenance and repair on tools, equipment, and vehicles. Senior Aide will comply with and enforce safety precautions relating to vehicle and equipment operation.

Trail crew members will be required to work alongside work crews and volunteers while providing instruction and guidance. Incumbent will be responsible for documenting all work performed, keeping accurate records of time and materials used. Senior Aide will ensure that all work is performed with due regard to safety, sensitivity to the resource, and meeting department trail standards.

This position is seasonal and may either work up to 189 days or 1500 hours in a 12-month period.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

  • Must be willing to work holidays and weekends as necessary
