Atrilogy Solutions Groups direct client is currently looking for aSenior Mainframe Systems EngineerinPhoenix, AZ, 6 months (Contract to Hire). Candidates submitted are leaning towards the development side vs. the engineering side. Can you please focus on those candidates that are heavy with regards to system engineering, mainframe system upgrades (z/OS, CICS, Software AG, networking, and mainframe storage) vs. code generators?
Work with data center operations mainframe technical team to support backend mainframe platform. Works with both software and hardware deployments. Work with various application development and database management teams on a daily basis. Partner with enterprise architects, infrastructure teams and PMO to deliver expected results. Work with installation and upgrade of technologies such as CICS, CA Products, DB2, Treehouse, and Software AG products. Interface effectively with all areas affected by major systems upgrades (including business users, infrastructure support groups, and the application development community). Excellent interpersonal skills and responsiveness to customers are a requirement. Interact with other software engineers and technical leads to understand subsystem and component specifications and recommend changes to facilitate efficient and effective development. Provide an architectural framework for information system development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts. Design and document subsystems and system components pertaining to Software AG ADABAS and Natural specific systems.

Under general supervision, reviews, analyzes, codes and implements new and/or existing subsystems. Maintains both batch and online programs in COBOL, ADS/O, SAS. Assists users with system modifications and reporting requests with detailed specifications. Completes both maintenance and development projects on a timely basis. Develops complex batch programs to load/erase data from database; to correct data problems; to create user/system reports. Utilizes OLQ, SAS, Culprit, and Excel to ensure data accuracy and to create user/system reports. Assists users as needed. Develops/modifies written procedures for production programs. This is a competitive classification. Mainframe Computer Programmer/Analysts develop applications and may also use the following: COBOL, CICS, JCL, ADABAS, and Natural. Minimum Qualifications Requires one (1) year of experience programming in a language used in the Department; OR two (2) years of course work in computer science, management information systems or a related field from an accredited college, technical school or university including at least six (6) semester (or 9 quarter) hours in a programming language used by the Department. Additional programming experience may substitute for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience equal to 30 semester (or 45 quarter) hours of credit.
