Job Description
At Alexander & Schmidt, a Senior Loss Control Consultant performs inspections and prepares in-depth reports for insurance underwriting purposes. Insurance companies use the reports to properly insure a commercial building, or business operations, for a new policy or renewal of a current policy.
Required Skills
  • A Minimum 10 years experience with a major carrier or working as an independent contractor providing loss control services.
  • Extensive understanding of commercial property and casualty lines.
    • Property assessments will potentially include the necessity to determine adequacy of sprinkler systems based on occupancy, commodities and racking systems.
    • Inland Marine coverages will include builders risk, contractors equipment, motor truck cargo, WLL and MOLL and other specialty coverages.
    • Commercial General Liability will include Premises, Operations, Products and Completed Operations.
    • Workers Compensation assessments for regulatory compliance and workplace safety.
    • Loss analysis involving identification of trends, root cause and appropriate corrective action.
    • Specialty fields such as Environmental and Professional Liability
  • Risk Improvement services including training, consulting, hazard analysis and regulatory assessments will also be conducted.
  • Solid communication skillsincluding exceptional writing ability, organizational skills, and computer skills
  • Excellent Time management skills
  • Professional certifications CSP, OHST, ALCM and/or ARM are preferred, but not required.
  • Uploading completed reports, photos and diagrams through a special website or complete reports on web based systems
  • Travel within a reasonable territory, 50 mile radius
This work will be challenging and covers everything from contractors to real estate to retail to warehouse and distribution to manufacturing.
High-quality, accurate loss control surveys guide the underwriter in the selection of profitable business, and assist the insured in controlling losses through the demonstrated value of the loss control services provided.

VIEW JOBS 8/6/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-11-04T00:00 <p>Overview</p><p>Control Systems &amp; Processor Development Engineer - The Integrated Power Systems Main Propulsion Control team in (Department 489) is seeking to add new engineering talent to support detailed design and new technology development for the All Electric Navy. The core focus of this group is electric drive propulsion control component integration, development, test, and delivery to meet the growing need of the United States Navy for more capable and more affordable submarines. A large part of developing and integrating such systems is the analysis and design of robust, high-performance control systems as well as the evaluation, disposition, and management of sub-tier supplier products that results in the delivery of the physical control systems. The IPS Main Propulsion Control System team is unique in that it has and develops specific resources with experience in the fields of linear and non-linear system theory, multivariable control analysis and design, advanced power electronics, electric machinery and drives, and high speed processing hardware/software development and integration.</p><p>The position of a control systems &amp; processor development engineer in the Main Propulsion System Control group would include projects and tasks centered around topics such as the design and analysis feedback control systems, control system processing and communication architecture as well as the development of requirements for and technical management of a design, fabrication, assembly, test, and delivery effort around future propulsion control systems. This is a highly technical role requiring both sufficient theoretical/academic knowledge in the disciplines of control systems and digital signal processing, processor board design and development, as well as control system architecture and communication.</p><p>Responsibilities: include the design, development, and analysis of submarine propulsion control system hardware and software. These responsibilities support submarine system and component performance and the overall capability of the platform to achieve its mission. Additional responsibilities include review and disposition of vendor engineering products, support of vendor test data analysis results as well as component testing and troubleshooting related to the development and delivery of future control system hardware and software. Duties will also include support testing of hardware in land based and at sea demonstrations. Below is a further breakdown of responsibilities for this role:</p><ul><li><p>Digital signal processing</p></li><li><p>Processor board (micro-processor, DSP, FPGA) hardware and software development and integration</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with digital communication protocols and topologies</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with power converter topologies and control schemes</p></li><li><p>Practical experience with system identification and data-driven control</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with advance power converter topologies and control schemes</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with various electric machinery and drive systems (induction motors, permanent magnet machines, generators, etc.)</p></li><li><p>Analyzing and interpreting simulation results to generate analysis reports, calculation packages, and formal recommendation letters to our customers.</p></li><li><p>Developing requirements for high-speed processing hardware, communication hardware, and control system architecture.</p></li><li><p>Developing and verifying system-level requirements based on modeling and simulation results</p></li><li><p>Reviewing vendor technical analysis reports and Electric Boat generated reports, and review of component specifications and deliverables</p></li><li><p>Review and disposition of electric drive vendor information requests, requirements clarifications, control system design deliverables and testing reports</p></li><li><p>Travel to the vendor facilities in Danbury, CT and Milwaukee, WI for test witnessing, model design and analysis review, program reviews</p></li><li><p>Travel to Philadelphia, PA to support full-scale testing of the electric drive control system</p></li></ul><p>Candidates best suited for this position will possess a passion for learning and being taught in the principles of operation of control systems, power electronics systems, motors, generators, and electric drives while assisting in the management of sub-tier suppliers in the delivery of the same equipment for ship construction.</p><p>Qualifications</p><p>Required:</p><ul><li><p>Minimum of a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related program</p></li><li><p>0 - 2 years experience</p></li><li><p>Effective communication skills and initiative</p></li><li><p>Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense</p></li></ul><p>Preferred:</p><ul><li><p>Advanced degrees highly desired</p></li><li><p>Classes in electric drives, digital controls, power electronics, and electric machines</p></li><li><p>Design, analysis, or test of power electronic systems and electromagnetic machines</p></li><li><p>Power system design including fault analysis and protection/coordination.</p></li><li><p>Digital signal processing</p></li><li><p>Processor board (micro-processor, DSP, FPGA) hardware and software development and integration</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with digital communication protocols and topologies</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with power converter topologies and control schemes</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with various electric machinery and drive systems (induction motors, permanent magnet machines, generators, etc.)</p></li></ul><p>Skills</p><p>Candidates selected for an interview should be prepared to demonstrate the following:</p><ul><li><p>A high level of knowledge in most of the functional areas discussed above</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication skills</p></li><li><p>Excellent technical writing skills</p></li><li><p>Excellent problem solving skills</p></li><li><p>Strong leadership skills</p></li><li><p>Strong drive and sense of urgency for completing tasks on time with high quality</p></li></ul> Electric Boat New London CT
