General Description and Essential Functions
Proficient credit review associate. In addition to conducting independent reviews of individual loans and borrowers respective of asset quality and lending process standards, this position maybe asked from time to time to independently scope, sample, lead, and deliver reviews and review outcomes. An individual at this level possesses sufficient skills, competencies, and background to readily review commercial and Agri loans, and may be assigned to evaluate more complex credits or projects with limited oversight from others. Key competencies to this position are the ability to review and instinctively evaluate credit criteria, ensure asset quality reports are accurate, identify areas within culture or policy needing development, and provide feedback and expertise to meaningfully enhance the Risk Asset Review platform. Additionally, individuals at this level will contribute to the enhancement and effective delivery of credit review tools and processes.
Review loan, borrowers, and portfolios prioritized on the basis of exposure and risk
Provide independent assessments of loans, borrowers, and portfolios to satisfy internal and external parties.
Scope reviews. Determine appropriate samples, lead and deliver review outcomes.
Maintain an accurate database of completed reviews.
Identify and report all compliance and policy issues related to credit and loan portfolios.
Educate and assist Lenders and support staff on matters of credit.
Use experience and skills to enhance and protect the credit culture within the Bank.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related area, or equivalent experience required. Post Graduate degree a plus.
3 to 10 years of prior banking experience with emphasis in credit, lending, audit, or compliance, and at least some prior experience in a formal credit review setting.
Sound knowledge of credit processes, business strategy, and economic issues.
Sound understanding and competency with respect to financial statement analysis, tax return analysis, and cash flow evaluation.
Semi-frequent travel will be required.
Strong math and customer service skills; must be detail oriented.
Ability to cordially work with internal customers a must.
Strong listening and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong writing skills ability to write inductively.
Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint applications). Ability to use PC skills to enhance the RAR program.
Strong desire to build relationships within the Great Western Bank organization and effective working relationships with co-workers.
Possesses effective utilization of time management to accomplish goals on a timely and consistent basis.
