PG&E's Workforce Education and Training (WE&T) team serves a vital role in teaching California's workforce to recognize and act on energy savings and GHG-reduction opportunities by providing access to energy related skills, tools, and resources. WE&T strives to train a workforce capable of meeting California's energy savings goals in the buildings that they design, engineer, build and operate while appropriately meeting occupant's needs. WE&T's curriculum provides technical upskilling to help professionals (designers, contractors, engineers, and building operators) understand how to incorporate energy efficiency into their core job functions. Primarily through Energy Centers located in San Francisco and Stockton, WE&T designs, develops, delivers and maintains energy efficiency curriculum on a range of subjects focused on the sectors with the greatest energy saving potential including lighting, daylighting, HVAC, building envelope, commissioning, building operation, ZNE and integrated project delivery.
The PG&E Energy Centers are seeking a full-time Lighting Program Coordinator. The Lighting Program Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert who manages from creation through delivery a segment of training and educational resources focused on lighting related topics. This segment, also referred to as the lighting curriculum track, includes but is not limited to design (principally non-residential focused), controls, and daylighting with input from a Technical Advisory Committee including industry and PG&E stakeholders. The Lighting Program Coordinator's responsibilities also include providing high-level consultations for customer lighting projects and PG&E or statewide programs serving the lighting industry and/or end users. Additionally, the Lighting Program Coordinator collaborates with partners throughout the state to achieve PG&E's and California's energy efficiency goals through outreaches and collaboration with other training organizations. The Lighting Program Coordinator will also manage a statewide contract for funding California Advanced Lighting Controls Training Program (CALCTP). Ideally the Coordinator possesses the unique talents to train others regarding the technical, design, efficiency, and code requirements of lighting design, engineering, installation and commissioning in a customer focused team setting. The Lighting Program Coordinator must be dedicated to good design, engineering, energy efficiency and practical solutions that meet the occupants' needs. The ideal candidate has experience in lighting design, electrical engineering and lighting system installation as well as education and public speaking.
On-going delivery of lighting related education curriculum, including a mutually agreed upon teaching schedule, as well as recruiting, onboarding, directing and evaluating third party instructors or consultants.
Act as an internal consultant to PG&E or statewide Energy Efficiency Programs
Act as a high-level technical consultant on PG&E customer projects
Manage consultant contracts including initiating and managing agreements, approving invoices, forecasting cost, and preparing budgets for quarterly and annual planning
Provide tours of the Energy Centers
Maintenance of a world-class lighting classroom
Act as a liaison with lighting industry, research, professional, and educational organizations
Undergraduate degree in lighting, electrical engineering, construction, or architecture or equivalent work experience.
4 years of relevant experience in lighting design, electrical engineering, construction, operation and/or lighting installation fields.
Valid California driver's license required or the ability to obtain one prior to start date.
Ability to travel a minimum of 20% of the time.
Demonstrable work experience in the lighting field (commercial experience preferred).
Excellent presentation skills, including presentations to upper management.
Thorough understanding of lighting related terminology, technology, practice and codes.
Experience with commonly used lighting modeling, design and calculation software.
Ability to plan and execute a project while balancing multiple goals on a team.
Familiarity with current lighting technologies and their successful implementation including commissioning.
Familiarity with PG&E's Energy Efficiency Programs, particularly those involving lighting resources.
Excellent communication, writing, speaking, and customer relationship skills.
Advanced degree in lighting related fields or equivalent installation and design experience.
Experience working with lighting manufacturers in both commercial and residential design.
Experience in commercial lighting design, engineering, construction and energy efficiency community in California.
Experience in developing, designing, and teaching technical curricula.
Knowledge of California's Title 24 Part 6 Energy Standards.
PE, LC or C-10.
