The Senior Library Technician provides high-quality customer service to OU-Tulsa Schusterman Library patrons using the library's resources and services, with a particular emphasis on supporting the library's technology and equipment. This position regularly staffs the library's front service and circulation desk. This position also provides technological support through first-level assistance, troubleshooting help, and training for library technology and equipment.
Essential Duties:
Provides general reference and circulation services and assists OU-Tulsa patrons in navigating and using the library's services during scheduled shifts at the library's front service desk. Assistance includes answering general questions, helping to find and locate library materials and resources, and checking out library materials.
Assists library patrons and staff using library equipment and technology, including computers, scanners, printers, and presentation equipment, and liaisons with OU Information Technology.
Troubleshoots library equipment as needed, and monitors work order requests for library computers, equipment, and technology with OU Information Technology.
Writes user instructions for library equipment and technology and provides training to library staff.
In consultation with the Technical Services Librarian, recommends technology items for library circulation and check-out. Identifies, writes, and updates user instructions/tutorials for technology checkout items.
In coordination with the Library Administrative Manager, maintains the schedule for the library's technology refresh.
Serves on relevant OU technology committees, such as Academic Tech Expo.
Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfil the function of the position.
Qualifications:
Required Education: High School diploma or GED, AND:
Working Conditions:
Physical: Standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching. Engage in repetitive motion. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Environmental: Standard library environment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong customer service skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Solid knowledge of general library principles and procedures
Ability to assist and instruct others in the use of technologies and equipment
Ability to troubleshoot basic level technology questions and issues
Ability to learn new technologies and systems
Preferences:
24 months of work experience providing technology support.
Associate or bachelor's degree.
