Senior Library Associate II

Regular Full-time, Pay Grade 36

This position supports the University's teaching, research, and learning goals by performing a variety of functions related to efficiently and timely ordering, renewing, processing, and maintaining print and electronic information resources. The employee holding this position will have responsibilities across the entire Acquisitions and Continuing Resources Department, which provides access to materials that are critical to the teaching, learning and research missions of the university and its multiple sub components.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acquire new or renew materials in both physical and electronic form through verification of incoming recommendations and subsequent selection of appropriate vendor and fund to ensure

timely receipt of items.

  • Monitor the full life cycle of monograph orders and serial subscriptions, intervening and troubleshooting as required (e.g. investigating non-supply and initiating claims) to ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment, referring as necessary to appropriate supervisors.

  • Receive and process serial issues and standing orders to ensure immediate availability of complete holdings, and longer-term selection/collation/handling of volumes for binding to ensure continued integrity and availability of journal collections for library users.

  • Perform the full range of inter-library services tasks related to lending and borrowing.

  • Contribute to the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date acquisitions or serials information in the Libraries' ILS, Alma.

  • Undertake project-based work as required to accommodate wider policy and procedural changes.

  • Assist with package reconciliation and troubleshooting electronic resources access issues.

  • Assist with training of new employees and student workers.

  • Assist in setting up electronic resource trials and in scheduling and conducting resource training sessions. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Knowledge of basic computer programs.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of an Integrated Library System's acquisitions module and Knowledge of a library's acquisitions life cycle.
  • 2 years of work experience in a library acquisitions, electronic resources, serials, or interlibrary loan department.
  • 2 years of work experience in a position requiring strong customer service skills.

Will be responsible for the design and implementation of research protocol as well as the technical analysis of the data. This person must be an independent leader with the ability to demonstrate professional judgment in making key decisions regarding research studies, data collection, and engineering analyses. This person must have project management capabilities as well as technical engineering skills to ensure that goals and milestones remain on track. Will develop and implement corrective action plans in an effort to improve performance when needed. Must have strong technical writing skills. They will be involved in data analysis and approval as well as document writing, such as study protocols, journal publications, and abstracts. Will also write proposals, progress reports, and final reports that are sent to the sponsors. This person will interact with study sponsors, technical industry representatives, orthopedic surgeons and clinical staffs, as well as hospital patients. Must be willing to travel for data collection and to attend major orthopedic and bioengineering conferences. Experience with imaging tools such as fluoroscopy and ultrasound is required. Must have computer skills and the ability to learn software packages that are used for analysis of imaging data. Will be required to use these software packages to analyze patient data. Therefore, it is important that this person have extensive knowledge of software development as well as internet, literature and journal article searches to assist with preparation of these documents. Experience with the IRB process is a requirement, including preparation and submission, to ensure proper procedures are followed. This person will oversee the preparation and submission of national and international applications and ongoing reports for clinical trial approvals and renewals.
