Under the direction of the CRB Principal Librarian (Assistant Director), the incumbent is responsible for researching and responding to assigned requests with a focus on accuracy, consistently high customer service, and timeliness; to identify and champion the adoption of appropriate tools, systems, training and best practices related to the management of research data, including but not limited to, data acquisition, archiving, and preservation for re-use.

Working Conditions

While the team is working almost completely remotely from home, travel may be required for scheduled meetings, trainings, presentations, and other operational purposes.

The California State Library serves the people of California in several ways and is made up of the Administrative Services Bureau, the California Research Bureau, State Library Services, the Information Technology Bureau and Library Development Services.

The California State Library collects, preserves, generates and disseminates information ranging from California's priceless historical items to today's online texts, and it advises, consults with, and provides technical assistance to California's public libraries, all while directing state and federal funds to support local public libraries and statewide library programs, and services.

The State Library is home to public reading rooms including Information Services, Government Publications, the Law Library, the Braille and Talking Book Library, and the California History Room.
