Job Purpose

This position will work onsite at our Global Technology Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. The Senior Li-Ion Test Engineer will report into the TPPL & Li-Ion Mechanical, Environmental, and Safety Test Manager as the Lead Test Engineer and will be responsible for supporting Li-Ion NPI activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support of NPI Activities.

  • Work as part of a Global V&V team supporting Li-Ion product related NPI Activities.

  • Conduct battery mechanical, environmental, and safety tests.

  • Liaise with and support witness test at 3rd party laboratory tests.

  • Work with external parties on fixture design and test instrumentation & optimization

  • Author test reports.

  • Identify test equipment to build/enhance internal testing capability.

  • Manage and maintain test equipment (including regular calibration)

  • Develop and optimize test methods.

  • Develop test standards.

  • Provide product design enhancement suggestions.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of battery test experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 3+ years of large format Li-Ion battery test experience.

  • Good command of AutoCAD / similar CAD tools for mechanical design.

Skills Requirement

  • Previous experience of working with Li-Ion Technology is essential.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office program suite.

  • Detailed report writing skills.

  • Previous experience of delivering measurable results in a busy environment.

  • Experience of working with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.

  • Good communication skills and able to liaise across all areas of the business.

  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of safety practices in the workplace.

  • Familiar with 5S and Six Sigma lean enterprise initiatives.

  • Familiar with UN38.3, UL1973, UL2580, UL9540, UL9540A, IEC60068 test standards.
