Commerical Roofing Estimator Position Profile:
Develop business, estimate, and sell commercial roofing projects.
Direct role in customer relations and sales.
Project selection and strategy.
Prepare accurate, timely estimates for potential jobs based on expertise.
Develop and maintain consistent contact with customers and document bid results and bid follow-up.
Develop a culture of teamwork and continually seek strategies to create competitive advantage.
Maintain a healthy backlog of work that allows us to retain all key employees and earn a profit.

Responsibilities of the Commercial Roofing Estimator:
Know and stay abreast of design requirements, codes and materials; use expertise to prepare accurate and competitive proposals and contracts.
Review projects in publications, plan centers, customer requests, and other areas to determine possible candidates.
Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects.
Complete a thorough and accurate review of construction documents, including but not limited to: general conditions, schedule, insurance, specification sections, warrant, and bond terms.
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids, selecting vendors, and determining cost effectiveness.
Collaborate with Business Development and Project Managers to decide which jobs to price and who will be responsible for the estimate, the backup, the bid review, and the selling.
Communicate with potential bidders to review scope, schedule, and bidding strategies.
Prepare and submit professionally presented estimates to potential bidder and be available for
Maintain accurate records of historical job performance data for future bidding that is reliable, useful, and user friendly.
Develop a smooth process of handing off a project and/or client to a Project Manager after a sale is complete.
Ensure consistency in process of how estimates are done.
Skills/Qualifications of the Commercial Roofing Estimator include:
5+ years working as a Construction Estimator or Pre-Construction Manager in the commercial roofing industry.
Extremely organized, detailed, thorough, and accurate.
Skilled communicator, both oral and written.
Strong negotiation skills.
Proficiency with Excel, Word, construction software.
Proficiency with Blue Beam or similar construction takeoff tool
Good business sense; can read markets, recognize and evaluate risks and opportunities.
Positive team player.
Enjoys and is skilled at estimating, math, blueprint reading and sales.
