Marvell seeks Senior Staff Software Application Engineer to work on applications, software, firmware, Drivers, and operating systems for infrastructure-grade multicore processor.

Specific duties will include:

  • Work with Sales and Marketing to understand Marvell's customer software feature requirements.

  • Work with Engineering to refine schedule and software feature availability.

  • Ensure that software produced by Software Engineering satisfies requirements

  • Provide advice and technical support to Marvell's global field applications engineering teams.

  • Directly and indirectly support customers on escalated technical issues.

  • Escalate customer technical issues to Engineering teams as needed.

  • Coordinate between Engineering and Field teams. Submit bug reports as needed.

  • Develop and deliver technical trainings to customers

  • Author applications notes and whitepapers

  • Identify gaps in product/process and make proactive suggestions for improvement

  • At least 5 years of experience as software engineer or system application engineer with focus in at least one or more of the following areas: device drivers, bootloader (e.g. u-boot, UEFI) / board support packages (BSP), SDK, software development tools.

  • Experience of board bring-up with hand-on experience in device drivers, bootloader (e.g. u-boot, UEFI) / board support packages (BSP), SDK, or software development tools.

  • Experience in bringing up or diagnosing one of the following interfaces/protocols: PCI-e, DDR3 / DDR4, USB, SGMII, RGMII, RXAUI, XAUI, XLAUI, XFI, 40GE, or 100GE.

  • Proficient in at least C and Linux.

  • Experience in Marvell OCTEON/ARMADA product lines and using Marvell OCTEON/ARMADA SDK a significant advantage

  • Ability of working effectively with other disciplines a must

  • Applications/Customer Support experience for processor and SoC products with good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of Multi core CPU Architecture and Computer Systems Design.

  • Excellent communication skills to interface internally and externally with all levels of the organization and to participate in problem solving and quality improvement activities.

  • Self-driven individual who works with a minimum of supervision and is a good team player

  • Demonstrates good analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Has an inherent sense of urgency and accountability.

  • Must demonstrate initiative and a bias for thoughtful action.

  • Grounded, detail-oriented, always backs up ideas with facts.

  • Must have the ability to define problems, issues and opportunities, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions from various datasets.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

  • BS in EE or CS.

The Opportunity The Ethernet PHY applications team is a key part of Marvell's Networking and Processors group responsible for cutting edge switching and infrastructure solutions for enterprise, data center and service provider customers. We are seeking a candidate with knowledge in ASIC design, hardware system design and firmware/software. Excellent verbal/written/presentation skills are needed as this role will involve direct customer-facing activities. This is an awesome opportunity with a small team driving key design wins and support for 10G to 400GbE PHY products. Responsibilities: * Drive and manage the technical aspect of customer design process from device evaluation to production. * Understand customer's target markets, analyze and prioritize customer design requirement, and provide feedback to the engineering team. * Drive and assist the sales team to win key designs with Marvell PHYs. ·Review customer schematics and layout. * Hands-on bring-up and debug of customer boards to diagnose, troubleshoot, resolve issues. * Support firmware and systems engineering team in the collective effort of device and system level testing as requested by customers. * Provide technical training to Marvell Field Applications Engineers, Distributor Field Applications Engineers, and key customers on Marvell PHY products. * Prepare demonstrations for trade-shows and customer visits. * Work closely with Marketing and Design to define next generation tools and products. * Develop technical collateral material including: application notes, release notes/errata, White papers and other technical documents. * Occasional domestic and international travel required Requirements: BSEE/MSEE/PhD 3-5 years of relevant experience * Experience with new system bring-up and ability to work under a high pressure environment. * Expertise in High speed interfaces is preferred. * Familiarity with high speed PCB layout, signal integrity, assembly and manufacturing. * Working knowledge of using lab equipment including high speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers and traffic generators. * Ability to debug at system level involving hardware as well as firmware/software issues * Ability to write scripts for system/device configuration and test automation. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. #LI-KB1 #GLDR The Perks With competitive compensation and great benefits, you will enjoy our workstyle within an incredible culture.
