Senior Legal Specialist - Prosecution

The City of Topekas Prosecution division is seeking an experienced administrative professional to serve as its Senior Legal Specialist. This position performs a variety of skilled paraprofessional work with a high level of responsibility. A high degree of thoroughness, accuracy and confidentiality is critical when performing duties of this position.

What you'll do:

• Assist as the assistant to the Chief of Prosecution, providing administrative support and assisting the office in organizing and maintain District Court Appeals, jury trials, bench trials, and criminal dockets.

• Conduct searches to obtain criminal history, driving records, contact, and conviction information.

• Respond to inquiries from the public and city departments regarding citations, procedures, policies, and various aspects of the Prosecution Division and Municipal Court.

• Compose a variety of legal documents including complaints, legal correspondence, and notifications to victims of arraignments, trials and sentencing state.

The ideal candidate is:

• An excellent communicator, both written and verbal.

• Able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

• Highly organized and skilled in time management.

• Knowledgeable of legal procedures, court rules, and specialized legal terminology.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates degree from an accredited college or university as a paralegal or related field.

• A combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the minimum qualifications is acceptable.

• Three years of experience in clerical work in the legal field is required, including or supplemented by one (1) year of supervisory or office management experience.

Entry rate of pay: $25.38 - $30.45 per hour, DOQ
