As Senior Legal Counsel, Privacy and part of Spotify's Business and Legal Affairs team, you will counsel and provide legal support to all our teams globally. You should be passionate about privacy but, comfortable with counseling business partners and making decisions that have both legal and business impacts getting deeply involved in ensuring that Spotify's offerings are designed, built and maintained in a way that complies with applicable data privacy obligations around the world.

You will understand the need to balance excellent legal compliance with a dedicated, business-friendly and technically sound approach to the challenges of being part of a dynamic, highly data-driven digital organization. We are looking for someone who can understand and interact with the highest levels of the organization while having a command of the technical details and requirements of privacy daily.

What you'll do

  • Foster the Spotify culture of respect for the privacy rights of our customers, employees, creators and business partners

  • Help drive a global privacy program that ensures compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations

  • Offer strategic advice to leadership and teams around privacy implications of using personal data, as well as mentorship on ways to minimize privacy risks

  • Act as escalation point for other in-house counsel on all kinds of privacy matters

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to respond to requests from regulators, law enforcement and customers

Who you are

  • Law degree (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of experience working in a law firm and/or in-house legal department

  • Experience in data protection law, including use of personal data for advertising and marketing

  • Experience big data/ technology sector

  • Validated ability to deliver clear, practical and pragmatic advice

  • Ability to make risk-based commercial decisions

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Fluency in English is critical, other languages a plus

In one aspect of your role, you will operate in a general counsel-like manner for the Client Directors, Client Executives, Operations Directors and Service Sales Directors of a fixed portfolio of named customer accounts. In this role, you'll support the legal sales relationship between Cisco and GES customers. In addition, you will provide overlay legal support to the GES Legal team with a heavy focus on software licensing and XaaS transactions across a large portfolio of GES accounts. Who You'll Work With The Global Enterprise Segment (GES) Legal team provides legal support for the 500+ U.S-based GES accounts. Who You Are You are articulate, remain calm under fire, and possess superior communication, negotiation, people and organizational skills. You are comfortable and confident dealing directly with customers, in-house and outside counsel, and all levels of management. Primary Responsibilities: * You will structure, draft, and negotiate contracts of major impact for Cisco with GES --customers and partners including, but not limited to: Master Agreements, Enterprise Agreements, Software License Agreements, and XaaS Agreements. * You will work cross-functionally to support and manage all aspects of the legal sales relationship with your GES customers. * You will set or influence strategic policies and initiatives, to ensure consistency and alignment with business objectives. * You will establish "trusted advisor" relationships with the sales leadership teams. You will participate as a member of the extended sales leadership team by attending staff calls, providing input on business and contracting strategies, being a first point of contact on new opportunities and all legal issues while providing ongoing business advice and counsel. Minimum Requirements: * A minimum of 8 years of experience practicing law or in contract management/negotiation role with strong sales contract, drafting and negotiation skills. * Direct experience negotiating complex business and licensing transactions. * A minimum of 4 years of experience doing SaaS and/or XaaS transactions. Outsourcing experience is a major plus, but not required. * Strong communications and "soft" skills, including the ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner. * Understanding of, and relevant experience in, intellectual property law, commercial contracts and business law. * Creativity and problem-solving skills. * Strong leadership skills and willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, respond quickly to urgent matters and execute proactively.
