Candidate must help maintain and expand projects around a proprietary software package for Computational Pipeline Monitoring (CPM). Utilize the software application that uses a real-time transient model, statistical or compensated mass balance model to provide leak detection, batch tracking, and hydraulics analysis of liquids pipelines.

  • Configure, tune and implement RTTM, statistical and/or compensated mass balance leak detection system for liquid pipelines

  • Installation and configuration of OPC services or other data transfer services

  • Support simulation models of natural gas pipelines

  • Configure SCADA Interface to manage changes in the data interfaces to and from the models

  • Provide support for troubleshooting and maintenance of the system

  • Work with engineering to configure Pipeline Models in CPM software

  • Work with Pipeline Operations, Engineering, and SCADA to review and adjust configurations and displays to tune and trouble-shoot real-time operation of the system for accurate pipeline monitoring

  • Assist SCADA Integration and scripts development

  • Provide end user training on the use of the leak detection system

  • Manage and coordinate alarm management and testing to comply with API 1175 and API 1130

  • Support the overall Leak Detection Program (LDP)

  • Be available for rotational on-call afterhours application support to Pipeline Control Center and SCADA Specialist

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related area

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pipeline leak detection modeling

  • Microsoft Server Administration

  • Good communication skills both oral and written

  • MS Office Suite skills

  • Willing to take on new challenges and to multi-task

  • Attend conferences and workshops concerning leak detection and SCADA

Preferred Skills

The following skills would be considered as a plus.

  • Data Management

  • Experience with Energy Solutions Pipeline Manager

  • Experience with Energy Solutions Leak Warn

  • Experience with statistical and compensated mass balance LD models

  • Knowledge in NGL, Refined Products, and Crude Oil pipeline hydraulics

  • Experience in Software development lifecycles (SDLC)

  • Visual Studio and C#

  • Experience in VB Script, SQL Server and T-SQL

  • CygNet SCADA software

  • OASyS/DNA software

VIEW JOBS 11/7/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-05T00:00 Description The duties of the Sr. Leak Detection Engineer are generally described as development, implementation and monitoring of a Leak Detection program for Company assets. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Configure and implement leak detection and simulation models. * Review field equipment and operations to provide recommendations to improve leak detection capabilities. Preparing cost estimates, budgets and providing oversight of changes. * Reviewing pipeline systems to identify and establish leak detection criteria. * Working with Operations Control and Pipeline Integrity to determine critical assets and prioritization. * Monitoring and tuning of leak detection systems. * Review leak detection system performance including false alarms with Operations Control. * Review Leak Detection and Simulation technologies and stay current on industry trends and regulations. * Development of technologies to improve leak detection performance. * Provide Controller and Operator training. * Perform additional projects as required at Supervisors request. Travel to field locations and Operations Control in Midland Texas will be required, but is estimated to be less than 10% of time. Department members will have a heavy workload, with unplanned overtime and changes in work priorities. Multiple projects with short turnaround times are common. Requirements KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: * Must have strong communications skills and be able to function well on teams * Be able to demonstrate leadership in implementing systems across a broad organization. * Possess the ability to operate advanced computer based programs such as SimSuite or other modeling software is required. * Familiarity with PLC's, SCADA and other control systems is a plus. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Other degrees may be considered if enhanced by appropriate work experience. * A minimum of 7 years of pipeline operating experience preferably with an emphasis on pipeline leak detection.
