About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Credit Risk Officer to provide senior credit officers, Chief Risk Officers (CROs), the Chief Credit Officer (CCO) and various other business partners with insights into the Wholesale credit portfolio and a proactive, forward-looking in-depth analysis in support of limits management, emerging risk identification and impact quantification, portfolio performance forecasting, and loss mitigation. Additionally, the Senior Lead Credit Risk Officer will lead cross-functional (spanning across first, second and third line of defense) complex strategies that include review, analysis, and enhancement of programs, strategies, policies and procedures that have direct impact on credit risk management, credit risk appetite, strategic initiatives and planning, and risk/return optimization.

In this role, you will:

  • Advise senior leadership to develop and implement strategies, programs and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite.

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges to drive the company credit culture, appetite, and business performance requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or companywide.

  • Deliver solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking, and coordination of highly complex activities and guidance to others.

  • Produce high quality ad-hoc and standardized periodic deliverables centered around credit risk analysis and portfolio management for the Wholesale Credit portfolio.

  • Develop and deploy analytical tools to identify, monitor and analyze single name, sector, concentration, and portfolio risks.

  • Monitor, assess and report on asset quality, portfolio trends and credit policy exception trends.

  • Identify emerging credit risks and correlated risk pools that could potentially impact earnings and capital.

  • Develop and implement Business As Usual (BAU) stress testing procedures that inform risk identification and risk appetite.

  • Manage overall loss content in the portfolio within acceptable risk tolerance.

  • Provide credible review and challenge of line of business credit products, programs, and policies.

  • Support the Business Loss Forecast (BLF), Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) and Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) processes, credit migration management, and concentration management with credit research, problem solution and process management.

  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to senior leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions.

  • Provide key stakeholders with subject matter expertise and credible, transparent analysis and reporting to empower Line of Business decision making.

  • Collaborate with business for oversight of risk management.

  • Interact with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics.

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 7+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of related experience preferably to include credit risk, markets, credit research or portfolio management.

  • Ability to assess the quality of lending and ongoing management of credit risk within the Bank, including adherence to risk appetite, credit policy and regulations.

  • Strong commercial credit analysis skillset.

  • Ability to present complex material in a digestible, consumable manner to all levels of management.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives.

  • Strong knowledge of debt markets, debt instruments and commercial loan products.

  • Experience with corporate credit relative value and market-based pricing a plus.

  • Bachelor degree in finance, accounting, business or quantitative discipline.
